Heavy rains pound in Mumbai, disrupting normal life
Rains were accompanied by winds making Mumbaikars run for cover.
As monsoon arrived in Mumbai, heavy rains lashed the city on Thursday after overnight showers leaving the city waterlogged in various places.
Dharavi received 20 millimetres (ml) of rain with Worli, Goregaon, Chembur, Chincholi, Malad and Kurla getting hit.
The city faced heavy traffic jams as the rain water piled up on the streets. The suburban trains have been running normally despite the rains.
The Bombay Municipal Corporation(BMC) has cancelled the weekend offs of its officers after heavy rain warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department(IMD).
Reports said the National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) has been kept on standby in case the situation goes out control.
