Two Indian soldiers martyred, 6 terrorists killed in twin encounters in J&K

Two soldiers of the Indian armed forces were martyred and two terrorists were killed in twin encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's(J&K) Kulgam area, the news agency PTI reported on Sunday (July 7).

The encounters at Kulgam's Frisal Chinnigam area and Motergam started on Saturday afternoonafter specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists hiding in the areas.

Para commando martyred

"Bodies of two terrorists were recovered from the Modergam encounter site while four bodies of terrorists were recovered from Chinnigam site,” officials told PTI. One of the martyred soldiers was an elite para commando.

Operations atFrisal Chinnigam andMotergam continued for a second dayto wipe out any terrorists hiding in the areas.

'A significant milestone'

Addressing a press conference,J&K Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain highlighted that these operations weregaining momentum and emphasised the importance of such successes in strengthening the security environment.

"Six terrorists have been neutralised," Swain said.

"This is undoubtedly a significant milestone for the security forces. These successes are crucial in fortifying the security environment. The people are coming together to end terrorism, and the operations are gaining momentum. The current operation is still ongoing and has not yet concluded," Swain added.
