After security forces killed the Amarnath Yatra terror attack mastermind Abu Ismail, a fresh list of the most wanted terrorists has been released.
Ismail's killing has been called agreat success by sources in the Army. The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, who was killed in an encounter in Kashmir's Nowgam on September 14, was involved in several bank robberies to support terror funding after demonetisation. His module, which consisted of eight to nine men, included both local and foreign terrorists.
Here's the list of top five terrorists who feature in the list prepared by security forces:
1. Zeenat-ul-Islam (Lashkar-e-Taiba)
The 2015 LeT recruit is most likely to be appointed the chief of the LeT in Kashmir after Ismail's death. Aformer member of the Al-Babar terroristoutfit, he is considered the main accused in the Shopian terrorist attack in February.
2. Zakir Musa (al-Qaida)
The former Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist -- who was declared the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen after Burhan Wani's encounter killing in 2016 -- is considered quite dangerous. He was announcedas the chief the newly-created al-Qaeda cell in Kashmir, the Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind in July, two months after his split from Hizbul Mujahideen. He's been using propaganda to call for an Islamic caliphate in Kashmir and throughoutIndia.
3. Riyaz Naikoo (Hizbul Mujahideen)
An "A++"category terrorist, Riyaz Naikoo is the chief of Hizbul Mujahideen and its most experienced leader. Naikoo, who is from Durbug, Awantipora, is considered to be a moderate among the Hizbul terrorists.
4. Saddam Padder (Hizbul Mujahideen)
A school dropout belonging to a family of farmers,Padder took up arms about four-five years ago and was a member of the LeT until he joined the Hizbul Mujahideen in 2015. Saddam Padder is considered a "clever"militant and was among the few people whom Wani trusted.
5. Khalid (Jaish-e-Mohammad)
The JeM commander, whose code name is Khalid, is believed to have trained and infiltrated into India from Pakistan. He is active in north Kashmir's Sopore area. Khalid is believed to have a hand in the suicide attack in February that left three soldiers dead.
