PM Modi takes aim at Congress' decades-long rule, says BJP will come to power again

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an exclusive interview with a private Indian news channel reflected on his journey since 2014 when the NDA government came to power. He alsotook potshots at decades-logCongressrule in India.

"When we were elected in 2014, then Congress already had the time to rule for four to five decades... there was also not that much vibrancy in the media. It was an open ground for Congress and the country was also with them... but the party could not seize the opportunity," PM Modi said adding the electorate of Indianow truststhe BJP.

"I don't govern, I serve. I am not in favour of enjoying the seat... I try to serve the people as a common man," he said.

While speaking on his party's tenure, PM Modisaid, "When our party won the majority and we formed a government, voters, for the first time saw what a stable government can do. I first turned their belief into hope with our policies and now in 2024, that belief is converted into a guarantee. People take my word for a guarantee."

He also expressed confidence in BJP coming out victorious in the upcoming elections. He said, "I think in 2024 in this election, I am not fighting, BJP is not fighting. Voters have already decided based on their experience."

Speaking further the PM took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and said, "the Congress ka Yuvrajlost earlier and will now lose the Wayanad parliamentary seat as well and he will announce a third seat for himself."

PM Modi also highlighted a policy-driven approach and digitalisation incurbing scams. "We have taken a merit-based approach... increased digitalization."

Responding to concerns about the misuse of investigative agencies, PM Modi stressed the importance of autonomy for agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), saying, "Politicians must not interfere in ED's work."

PM Modi also addressed misconceptions about the party, stating, "There has been a narrative against BJP that the party is upper caste, the reality is BJP has many SC, ST, and OBC ministers. It is also said that BJP is an urban party but we have many rural leaders. Moreover, it is also said that we are a conservative party but we have led the digital movement in the country."
