A lawyer has filed a complaint before the Lucknow district court on screening the film "Padmavati" for three journalists -- Rajat Sharma, Arnab Goswami, and Ved Pratap Vaidik -- before showing the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a violation of section 7 (1) of the cinematography act.
The complaint was filed by Ashok Pandey.
The complaint, which was filed before the judicial magistrate, will be heard on November 24.
Censor Board chairman Prasoon Joshi had earlier criticised the makers of the film for screening it for the press without the censor board "having seen or certified" the film.
"Disappointing that 'Padmavati' is being screened for media and getting reviewed on national channels without the CBFC having seen or certified the Film. This compromises role of systems and balances that are part of a functioning industry," the censor board chairman had said.
The film was apparently screened for select members of the press on Saturday morning.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film has been in the centre of a storm after fringe groups led by the Rajput Karni Sena accused it of distorting historical facts.
The director has rubbished their claims of an alleged dream sequence between actress Deepika Padukone's Rani Padmini and actor Ranveer Singh's Alauddin Khilji.
An India TV story by their online desk on November 18 said that their editor-in-chief Rajat Sharma said on his prime-time show "Aaj Ki Baat", " After watching the entire film, I can emphatically say that there is not a single dialogue, not a single scene, not a single sequence that can be said to go against the proud history of the Rajputs of Rajasthan".
A tweet by Republic channel, founded by Arnab Goswami, said:
On November 16, the CBFC sent back the film citing incomplete paperwork and technical problems.
The film's co-producers Viacom18 Motion Pictures have postponed the release date of the film which was originally supposed to hit theatres on December 1.
