Chandrika’s husband, Rajesh, realised that SNR hospital's medical staff forgot to remove the vaginal mop which was placed by them to prevent bleeding while making an incision.
He went to the hospital, and complained about the incident to district surgeon Dr SN Vijayakumar.
He appealed for action to be taken against the staff for negligence.
Speaking to The Times Of India newspaper, Rajesh said his wife had been asked to return to the hospital again for a medical check-up.

He added that he was informed by the staff members about the sutures being soluble and hence, it did not need to be removed.
Dr Vijayakumar, speaking about the incident, said that the woman delivered a baby boy on May 5 morning at SNR hospital and a vaginal mop was placed by the doctor to prevent bleeding and the patient was advised to get it removed during the removal of the sutures.
“The doctor on duty had also instructed the staff nurse in this regard. However, the nurse seems to have forgotten or the patient might have not turned up for the removal of the sutures,” Dr Vijayakumar said.
He said an investigation would be conducted by a committee, and action would be taken against the hospital staff on the basis of the findings.
“Chandrika is healthy and there’s no cause for concern,” he added.
