Congress, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, Nitish Kumar's JD(S) have taken early leads in various seats in the Assembly bypolls as counting began on Thursday morning amid heavy security.
Congress' Vishwajeet Patangrao Kadam was "elected unopposed" from Maharashtra's Palus Kadegaon Assembly constituency.
Trends show Congress has taken an almost unbeatable lead with Muniratna leading by 44,000 votes in Rajarajeshwari(RR) Nagar Assembly constituency seat in the ninth round of counting in Karnataka.
Congress candidate Laddi Sherowalia is leading by around 2,000 votes in first round of counting in the Shahkot seat with Samajwadi Party(SP) leading from Noorpur Assembly constituency.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) led by Md Murshid Alam is ahead by over 3,000 votes in Jokihat Assembly constituency.
In Kerala, CPM is leading by 3,106 votes in Chengannur Assembly seat.
TMC's Dulal Chandra Das is leading by over 20,000 votes from Maheshtala assembly constituency in West Bengal after the sixth round of counting with CPM second and BJP trailing in third spot.
In Punjab, Congress candidate Laddi Sherowalia is leading by around 8,500 votes in the fourth round of counting in Shahkot Assembly constituency.
BJP is leading in Jharkhand in the Gomia Assembly seat by 7,174 votes in the sixth round of counting.

The bypoll was conducted on Monday in Maharashtra's Palus Kadegaon, Uttar Pradesh's Noorpur, Bihar's Jokihat, Jharkhand's Gomia & Silli, Kerala's Chengannur, Meghalaya's Ampati, Punjab's Shahkot, Uttarakhand's Tharali & West Bengal's Maheshtala.
