Indian govt creates five new districts in Ladakh; this is what it means for UT

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the creation of five new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, took to social media and said to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts in the union territory. The new districts, namely, Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, have been created to bolstergovernance across Ladakh and ensure the benefits meant for people are made available at their doorsteps.

The central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has decided that these five new districts will create abundant opportunities for the locals of Ladakh.

The creation of five districts will benefit the people of Ladakh in a major way.

''In pursuit of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts in the union territory. The new districts, namely Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, will take the benefits meant for the people to their doorsteps by bolstering governance in every nook and cranny. The Modi government is committed to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh, '' said Home Minister Amit Shah.

Till now, there were only two districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh,namely, Leh and Kargil, butafter the addition of five new districts, Ladakh will have seven districts.

Ladakh is a very strategic place as it has border areas with China and Pakistan,andhence development of the region is important for the government with regard to defence.
