Here are the key candidates to look out for in this phase:
Vijay Rupani: The current chief minister of Gujarat is one of the frontrunners of assembly elections 2017. He was earlier the ex-chairman of Gujarat Tourism, four-times General Secretary of BJP Gujarat, and Speaker of Gujarat assembly. He is running for current elections from Rajkot West.
Indranil Rajguru: Gujarat's richest candidate, Rajguru from Congress is taking on Vijay Rupani from Rajkot West. The aggressive and powerful leader is currently an Member of Legislative Council (upper house) from Rajkot East.
Shaktisinh Gohil: Congress' Shaktisinh Gohil is contesting election from Kutch district's Mandi region. The national spokesperson of All India Congress Committee has claimed to end BJP's 10-year-old fortress from Mandvi.
Paresh Dhanani: Currently an MLA of Amreli, Paresh Dhanani is again contesting from the same constituency. Very close to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Dhanani has accompanied him many times during his campaigns.
