Two Indian Army soldiers killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar encounter, operation continues

Twosoldiers were killed amid an ongoing operation in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar in the Jammu region, while two others were injured, said the Indian Army, late Friday (Sep 13).

TheNagrota-based White Knight Corps had earlier said that four IndianArmy personnel had been injured in the gunfight. However,two personnel reportedlysuccumbed to injuries while they were being taken to the hospital.

"#GOC (General Officer Commanding)White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of the #Bravehearts; offer deepest condolences to the families," said theWhite Knight Corps, in a post on X.

The operation started at around 3:30 pm (local time)and during the initial gunfight, four Indian Army soldiers were injured. All the injured soldiers have been taken to the army's base hospital.

The Indian Army said, "Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched in area Chatroo at Kishtwar. A contact has been established with the terrorists at 3:30 pm. In the ensuing firefight, four army personnel were injured. The operation is in progress."

The operationcontinues as security forces believe there are multiple terrorists hidden in the area. More deployment has been brought in and a joint operation of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched.

Earlier, the Indian Army had said that two terrorists were killed in the Kathua Encounter and the search in the area was called off. "In the Joint operation launched on 11 September by Troops of rising corpsand J&K police two terrorists neutralised and large war-like stores were recovered. Operations concluded,"said the Indian Army.

The security forces across the Indian Union Territory,Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert as the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi is visiting the Doda district in Jammu on Saturday (Sep 14). The vigil on both theLine of Control(LoC)and the International Border has been increased.
