India: Security forces gun down two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur, operation underway

Two terrorists have been killed followinga gunfight between Indian security forces and terrorists in the Khandara top area of Basantgarh on the Udhampur-Kathua border in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces had information about the presence of terrorists in the area after which a cordon and search operation was launched.
During the search operation, terrorists opened fire on security forces, resulting in a gunfight.
The operation continues as security forces believe one or two more terrorists are still hiding in the area.
The Indian Army said, "Two terrorists neutralised in the ongoing operation at Khandara Kathua by troops of rising star corps. operations in progress."

Meanwhile, a personnel of the Border Security Forces (BSF) was injured after unprovoked firing from across the border in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district in a ceasefire violation.

In the wee hours at 2:35 am (local time), an incident of unprovoked firing was reported in Akhnoor area from across the border,BSF PRO said.
The BSF gave a befitting response. In this incident, one BSF constable namedDurba Jyoti Das sustained injuries, and he was subsequently shifted to hospital, he said.
Security has been put on high alert across the Line of Control (LoC)and international border. More deployment was brought in at the encounter site in Udhampur as well.
The security forces are carrying out a massive search operation.
Ahead of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, that are going to be held after 10 years, the authorities are already on high alert as they have inputs that terrorists' handlers sitting across the border may try to disrupt thepolls.
