The BJP has reached the victory mark of92 in Gujarat -- but is looking like it will struggle to reach the 100 mark

The BJP has also won Himachal, getting to the victory mark of 35.

The election results and "in this day and age, for a party to keep winning for so long," Modi said, "are historic".

"Recent elections results have proven that the country is ready for reform, is looking towards things that perform in a positive way and believes in transformation," he added.

"After 2014, there is hunger for development. Even if you do not like BJP, do not try to derail the progress being made towards development," he said.

He also added that "So many conspiracies were hatched in Gujarat by Congress, misinformation was being spread." But "People cannot bear if anyone makes fun of vikas(development)".

Development was the key theme of Modi's speech, with a few exceptions:

Taking of the Himachal elections, he said the results there "show that if you don't do development and are embroiled in all wrong acts then after five years people will not accept you."

And he thanked the people of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh for choosing the path of development.
