The plea for an urgent hearing of the matter was filed by Sharad Yadav'sAdvocate Nizam Pasha andwas put before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar.

The plea says that Yadav was not given any chance by Rajya Sabha chairman before the order was passed against him.

Sharad Yadav was disqualified from the party by Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu due to Anti-Defection Law on December 4.

His disqualification came after Yadav joined hands with the opposition and attended a rally of the opposition party in Patna.

Yadav teamed up with the opposition after JD(U) president and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar broke out from the Grand Alliance and joined up with BJP.

The chairman then disqualified Sharad Yadav along with another party leader citing that the two senior leaders had"voluntarily given up" their membership by defying the party's directives and attending events of opposition parties.
