Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen
Noted Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen passed away on Sunday in Kolkata at the age of 95.
Born on May 14, 1923, in a town in Faridpur now in Bangladesh, Senwas often considered to be one of the greatest ambassadors of Bengali parallel cinema globally.
He earned several National and International awards for his work.

Sen studied physics in his college. As a student, he alsoparticipatedin the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India.
Expressing condolences at his death, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Bannerjeetweeted today, "Saddened at the passing away of Mrinal Sen. A great loss to the film industry. My condolences to his family".
