The father of the victims in the double murder case in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun set his bike on fire and tried to immolate himself on Sunday (Mar 24), police said.
This comes after the father was reportedly upset that the police have not been able to ascertain the motive behind the killing of his two children by a barber in their house.
According to the police, Vinod Kumar, the children’s father, after setting his bike on fire, tried to immolate himself but the law enforcement officials stopped him.

Kumar’s two children, Ayush (12) and Ahaan (8) were killed, while his third child Yuvraj, 10, was admitted to hospital with serious wounds.
The shocking incident took place in Budaun’s Baba colony area on March 19.
Speaking about Kumar’s actions on Sunday, senior superintendent of police Alok Priyadarshi said the father of the victims was missing his children because of Holi and set his bike on fire in rage.
“Seeing their shoes, clothes and other festival items, he could not stop himself and set fire to his bike to vent his anger,” said Priyadarshi.

“It seems that the police are hiding something.”
The accused in the case have been identified as Sajid and Javed, both barbers.
Sajid was killed in an encounter with police on the same day that he allegedly killed Kumar’s children.
Javed switched off his phone and tried to escape to Delhi but was arrested on Wednesday night (Mar 20) from Bareilly.
