65th National Film Awards: Sridevi wins Best Actress for 'Mom', 'Newton' Best Film

Nearly two months after her accidental death, actress Sridevi was awarded her first National Film Award for her performance in 'Mom'.

The announcement was made on Friday by by Jury Head Shekhar Kapur and other members of the panel.

Directed by Ravi Udyavar, Mom had Sridevi playing a mother who seeks revenge from those who raped her daughter.

Amit Masurakr's critically acclaimed film Newton- starring Rajkummar Rao- was adjudged Best Hindi Film of 2017. The film also fetched actor Pankaj Tripathi a special mention.

The film narrates the story of an honest election officer who succesfully conducts elections in Naxal area in Chattisgarh.

Young Bengali actor Ridhi Sen was declared the Best Actor for a film called Nagarkirtan.

SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion won adjudged Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment

Late actor Vinod Khanna, who died in 2017, was given the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Other notable mentions were AR RAhman who won the all the music awards- Best Music for Mani Ratnam's Kaatru Veliyidai and Best Background Score for Mom.

Divya Dutta was awarded Best Supporting Actress award for Irada while Fahad Fazil got Best Supporting Actor for Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum
