Diljit Dosanjh asks fans to share the film

On Sunday evening, ZEE5 had announced that the film was being taken down from India region. Hours later, the lead actor of Staluj, Diljit Dosanjh, went live on Instagram and urged everyone to share the downloaded version and watch the film. He said he was relieved that the film had finally reached viewers, even if it was available for only a short time. He added that he was happy many people had already watched and downloaded it.

Diljit said that once something is on the internet, it is almost impossible to remove it completely. He also said the film now belongs to the audience. “So now I feel a lot of relief that finally the film is with you. Now it is your film, now it cannot be stopped. This is the people's film now; you can’t stop it now. I feel those behind this are innocent or uneducated to think that once something comes online, it can just be deleted like that,” he added.

Also read: Diljit Dosanjh's Satluj temporarily removed from Zee5; OTT platform issues statement

The actor also urged those who had managed to download the film during its short release window to share it with others so that everyone can watch it.

“Now you can share it among yourselves; it’s your film. But I'm happy and relieved that the film finally reached the audience. Many people have already downloaded it. Once anything lands online, it never gets deleted. I saw a video from Rajasthan where people are watching the film; I felt very happy. Please show it to your friends and everyone around you,” he said.

Satluj was removed two days after release

The film Satluj began streaming on ZEE5 India on July 3 and was taken down two days later. The film, which had been waiting for release for the last few years, had already faced censorship issues last year. The version that was released on OTT was the uncut one, approved by the family of Jaswant Singh Khalra, on whom the film is based.

After pulling the film from its platform, ZEE5 shared a statement backing both the film and the people behind it. “The response to Satluj since its release has been truly overwhelming. We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch and champion the film... At ZEE5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling can inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact," the statement released on Sunday read.

The streaming platform also said that the film will remain unavailable in India for now. “In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity,” they concluded.

About Satluj

Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film follows his fight to uncover the alleged disappearance of thousands of Sikh youths during Punjab's militancy period in the 1980s and 1990s. By examining records from cremation grounds across the state, Khalra brought to light evidence of alleged illegal cremations and fake encounters, drawing global attention to the issue.

On September 6, 1995, Khalra was reportedly abducted from outside his home in Amritsar's Kabir Park. He never returned, nor was his body found. In 2005, several Punjab Police officers were convicted in the case by a Patiala court. Hours after ZEE5 pulled Honey Trehan's film Satluj from its streaming platform, the film's pirated version found its way to social media with many downloading the film. The platform has now condemned the move urging people to not encourage piracy.

Just a day after OTT platform ZEE5 took down Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal starrer Satluj from its platform, the film’s pirated copies have found their way on social media. Satluj was released on the ZEE5 platform on Friday; however, the film was taken down two days later for the platform’s OTT users. While the ban has led to curious fans downloading the pirated version of the film, the platform has condemned piracy, urging users on social media to not support it. The statement came after the film’s lead actor Diljit Dosanjh urged those who had already downloaded the film to share it with others, saying it now belongs to the audience. ZEE5 asks viewers not to support piracy On Monday, July 6, ZEE5 shared a statement after pirated copies of Satluj started spreading across various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter). Many users shared downloaded versions of the film, while others asked for links and different file formats in the comments. Urging people not to watch or share pirated copies, the streaming platform said, “We are hopeful and doing everything we can. Please do not support piracy. We remain committed to exploring every possible avenue to bring Satluj back to you.” The platform shared a poster and wrote, “We are doing our bit to bring Satluj back. Still from House of Dragon S3E3

Much like episode 2, this one also feels like a battle of emotions, words, and politics, far away from the dragons.

What happens in episode 3?

This week's episode revolves around things beyond Rhaenyra Targaryen's expectations. There are "mice" in the large, dark palace. She, who finally wants to be anointed as Queen, has been questioned to prove that King Aegon is dead. However, she still takes the throne. Then, she has to answer how things will move forward, as her kingdom is almost bankrupt, with no gold or food left. But before this, the episode begins with Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), standing with the three dragons. In front of him is Lord Ormund Hightower (James Norton), with fear on his face. He has been informed about what happened in King's Landing, and after Ormund agrees to bow down in front of the Queen, all Daemon has asked is - Alicent Hightower's youngest son, Prince Daeron Targaryen. And Ormund rightfully does it. But surely, Ormund, did something that no one ever thought.

Also read:

Rhaenyra is a Queen, but first, a Woman

In episode 3, several scenes show the fear on Rhaenyra’s face and the insufferable pain she suffers. It’s especially painful for her to sit on the Iron Throne right after having her period. She is in pain, but all she has are questions, problems, and solutions that only she has to find. No one else. She has to prove herself at everything that she does, and when Lord Corlys calls her son's bastards after she refuses to accept his bastard son as his heir.

But as things are crumbling down, she is a woman with principles and emotions, too. In House of the Dragon, Alicent and Rhaenyra have had one of the best exchanges, and in this episode, too, when Alicent is afraid, but she has that confidence, and Rhaenyra knows she has to appear strong, she still manages to ask Alicent how she ran the palace in King’s Landing.

What works in this episode?

In episode 3, the pain of Rhaenyra hits hard in several scenes. But with all that, what she has left is that she’s the Queen, and she carries it with all her focus and vulnerability.

What works in this episode are the facial expressions and how well the scenes were shot, whether it was the opening scene of Daemon with Caraxes, Vermithor, and Silverwing behind him, or Rhaenyra’s scenes where she is sitting on the throne in pain, being questioned, distributing food, or even when she sees a mouse. This episode works with the well-shot sequences

Where are things heading?

With its third episode, House of the Dragon’s next focus is on Rhaenyra’s fight with Ormund Hightower, who has deceived her by sending someone else in place of Prince Daeron. Not only this, but he has also captured Dragonstone near Tumbleton, one of the biggest moves by the Greens in this season. Now it will be interesting to watch where things head from here. For now, the first three episodes have mainly focused on the Blacks, and more specifically, on Rhaenyra and her return to King’s Landing. From here, the focus shifts to the Greens.

The Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara) has called for a public boycott of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The controversy stems from Nolan's decision to film scenes in the peninsula city of Dakhla, located in the disputed territory of Western Sahara.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey may be one of the most anticipated films of the year but it has found no takers at the Sahara International Film Festival. The organisers of the film festival called for a boycott of Nolan’s film over scenes shot in the disputed territory of Western Sahara. What is the controversy about? Nolan’s period drama is scheduled for release worldwide on July 17, was partially filmed in the peninsula of Dakhla in the disputed territory, with a cast including Zendaya and Matt Damon. The mineral-rich former Spanish colony has been largely controlled by Morocco since 1975 but is considered a non-self-governing territory by the United Nations. Morocco has long been in conflict with the Algerian-backed Polisario Front, which seeks independence for the Sahrawi people. "When Christopher Nolan steps on the red carpet on his way to the premiere's screening, he will also be stepping on International Law, specifically the right of the Sahrawi people to their territory and resources, which are being illegally exploited by Morocco," the festival, also known as FiSahara, said in a statement. "FiSahara is calling for a general boycott by the public after Christopher Nolan chose the city of Dakhla in Morocco-occupied Western Sahara as one of its locations," it said. Nolan was asked to drop scenes before FiSahara, which takes place in Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, had pressured Nolan last year to drop the scenes filmed in the territory. "I would encourage Mr Nolan to understand the history of the Moroccan regime's repression against the Sahrawi people," Spanish film star Javier Bardem was quoted as saying in the festival's statement. Morocco maintains that Western Sahara is an integral part of the kingdom and proposes a plan in which it would be an autonomous Moroccan territory. The Polisario Front however maintains its demands to hold a referendum on self-determination.
