Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton arrive holding hands at the Australian premiere of Bridgerton

Bridgerton stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton took their onscreen characters to the red carpet. The two are playing romantic leads in the third season of Bridgerton and walked on the red carpet holding hands at the Australia premiere of Bridgerton Season 3on Sunday.

The upcoming season of the Netflix series will centre on the love story between Coughlan and Newton's respective characters, Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

On Sunday, they left the fans in a tizzy and they posed at the event holding hands, teasing the chemistry that is yet to unfold in the upcoming season.

Coughlan looked stunning in a Richard Quinn gown with a plunging sweetheart neckline. Meanwhile, Newton looked dapper in an off-white shirt, loose-fitting pants, and a long tan coat.

Inside the event, Coughlan explained why it wasn't hard to build a deeper connection with her onscreen suitor in a video clip shared on social media.

"We've known each other now five years and people were like, 'What did you do to build the chemistry?' And I'm like, 'Well, we just stopped repressing it, and then it was fine, we didn't have to do anything'," the actress said with a laugh.

"It was amazing. We've been on such a journey together," she added, looking at Newton. "Cause I feel like we were babies in season 1, it's strange to look back."

Addressing the crowd, she added, "I'm so excited, I can't believe you guys are gonna see it!"

About Bridgerton Season 3

Season 3 of Bridgerton is the small-screen adaptation of Julia Quinn's fourth novel in the series which centres around the wealthy Bridgerton family. Season 3 is based on the novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

"This moment has been literal years in the making. I’m so excited we can finally start to share Season 3 with you all ❤️," Coughlan wrote in the caption of an Instagram post reflecting on the launch.

The first part of Bridgerton season 3 premieres on May 16, and and part 2 drops on June 13.
