
The tragic landslides in the hilly areas in Kerala’s Wayanad district have disrupted the lives of hundreds of people. The death toll has crossed the 300 mark on Friday (Aug 2).
Amidst the ongoing rescue operationin the affected areas ofWayanad, several South Indian actor have shown their solidarity for the victims and affected families bydonating to the Kerala Chief Minister Relief Fund.
On Friday (Aug2), superstar Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan donated Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister's Office in Kerala.
Taking to Instagram handle, the star couple shared a heartfelt note for the affected families after the gut-wrenching calamity.Sharing the letter, Vignesh wrote, “Can’t match the loses in #wayanad :( extending our support at this dark time (folded hand emojis) @nayanthara.”
The letter read, “In the wake of the tragic landslide in Wayanad, our hearts go out to the affected families and communities. The devastation and loss experienced by the community are gut-wrenching. In these times of great need, we are reminded of the importance of coming together to support one another. As a gesture of solidarity, we are making a humble contribution of ₹20,00,000 (Rupees Twenty Lakhs Only) to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to provide the much-needed immediate assistance to the affected families and aid in the rebuilding process. It has been extremely heartening to see the coordinated response from our government, volunteers, rescue teams, and several other organisations, all working tirelessly to provide crucial aid and support to those in need. Let us unite in strength and compassion to help rebuild and heal.”
Apart from Nayanthara and Shivan, several Malayalam and Tamil actors, such as Suriya, Jyotika, Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna have donated to the Kerala Chief Minister Relief Fund to help victims of the Wayanad landslide tragedy.
Tamil actors Suriya, his wife Jyothika, and Karthi have donated Rs 50 lakhs to the Kerala CM Relief Fund. Malayalam megastar Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan have donated Rs 25 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, respectively.
