Aasha Singh Jaiswal, an actor and mimicry artist, died on Saturday. Her son shared the news on social media and paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother.
Veteran actor and mimicry artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal has passed away at the age of 83 in Mumbai. She died on August 22, 2026, at around 7:30 pm. The news was confirmed by her son, Akkash Bharadwaj, who took to social media to pay tribute to her mother.
She had enjoyed a long career spanning Hindi films, television, mimicry performances and social work. Jaiswal was also associated with cultural events and founded Aasha Events and Films. Some of her popular television appearances include her role as Kripi in B.R. Chopra's Mahabharat, Baazigar, Deewangee, Aag, Bobby Jasoos, Kayda Kanoon, Aansu Bane Angaarey and Ghar Bazar.
Aasha Singh Jaiswal's son's tribute
Following his mother’s death, Akkash shared an emotional message on Instagram. "She was a dedicated “Iron Lady.” I request everyone to pray for the peace and salvation of her soul. Please also watch and remember her work on social media so that wherever her soul may be, she feels happy knowing that you are still watching and remembering her work. Because her work was everything to her in life, and I hope it brings her salvation and eternal bliss after her death. With this hope, I am sharing this message. Do not grieve death; instead, embrace the joy of divine bliss. This was her message," he wrote.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s career
Jaiswal has worked across different areas of the industry during her decades-long career. Television audiences recognise her for portraying Kripi, associated with Dronacharya, in the popular mythological series Mahabharat, directed by B.R. Chopra.
She also worked in films such as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer Baazigar, which was released in 1993. She later appeared in films such as Deewangee and Bobby Jasoos.
Beyond acting, Jaiswal was known for her work as a mimicry artist. She was described by her family as India’s first female mimicry artist and was particularly recognised for her impressions of legendary actor Meena Kumari.
Aasha Singh Jaiswal last rites
As per her son, Jaiswal had been battling a lung infection for around three months before her death. She passed away in Mumbai on August 22 at approximately 7:30 pm.
Her last rites were conducted on August 23 at around 10 am at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai.
Jaiswal is survived by her son Akkash Bharadwaj.
