What is Basal Cell Carcinoma?

According to Mayo Clinic, Basal Cell Carcinoma is a type of skin cancer. It is reportedly the most common cancer in humans. Basal cell carcinoma occurs most often on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun, such as your head and neck. Most basal cell carcinomas are thought to be caused by long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. Avoiding the sun and using sunscreen may help protect against basal cell carcinoma.

Gordon Ramsay’s bike accident

The health update comes more than a year after he was hospitalised due to a bike accident. In a June 2024 post, the MasterChef star revealed, “I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries, but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.”

Last December, he shared an update that his bruising had healed, along with a montage video featuring his injuries from the accident.

Popular Chef Gordon Ramsay has been diagnosed with skin cancer. Ramsay took to social media to share the news, as he shared images of a patch near his ear in photos indicating surgery.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
What does Daruma doll signify?

The hollow, round, and brightly painted doll represents resilience, perseverance, and good fortune and is one of the most enduring cultural symbols of Japan. It is modelled on Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism.

The doll has a unique weighted design that ensures that it returns to an upright position if it is pushed over, reflecting the Japanese proverb: “Nanakorobi yaoki”, which translates to “fall seven times, stand up eight”.

A new Daruma doll has its eyes left blank white. After purchasing, an owner makes a wish or selects a goal, then fills the left eye with black ink. Once the goal is fulfilled, only then is the right eye painted. Pilgrims visit the temple to receive the dolls as a symbol of good fortune and resilience.

By presenting the doll to PM Modi, the chief priest not only expressed a gesture of goodwill but also extended spiritual blessings of persistence and success. It is also a symbol of expressing faith in someone’s determination to achieve their goals, as per the Japanese tradition.

The percentage of workers who report working a four-day week has gone up from 9.8% in the final three months of 2019 to 10.9%, representing 2.7 million across full- and part-time work, but the data does not reveal whether those taking shorter working weeks have taken a pay cut to do so.

Over 100,000 workers in the United Kingdom have transitioned to a full-time four-day workweek since the pandemic, highlighting a major shift in the evolving work landscape sparked by Covid, a new analysis reveals. About 1.4 million people reported working full-time for four days in a week between October and December 2024, an increase of over 100,000 compared to the same period in 2019, when 1.29 million followed this work schedule, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Campaigners and some economists say that a four-day week offers advantages like improved mental health and more personal time for relaxation to workers and also benefits businesses by boosting employee motivation and aiding in hiring and retention. Moreover, an additional 100,000 employees said they worked a part-time four-day week between October and December 2024. Consequently, the percentage of employees in the UK who report working a four-day week has gone up from 9.8% in the final three months of 2019 to 10.9%, representing 2.7 million across full- and part-time work. However, the data does not reveal whether those taking advantage of shorter working weeks have compressed their hours or have taken a pay cut to do so. https://www.wionews.com/videos/driverless-cars-move-from-hype-to-reality-1755930559894/embed The 4 Day Week Foundation, which campaigns for more businesses to take up shorter working weeks with no loss of pay for staff, has reported that more than 420 companies having more than 12,000 employees have adopted a four-day week since the pandemic. This is based on the number of companies that have signed up to the foundation’s employer accreditation scheme and those who publicised their adoption of a shorter week. “The nine to five, five-day week is a century-old model that no longer fits the way we live and work today. We’re long overdue an update. A four-day week with no loss of pay is about freedom—the freedom to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives,” said Sam Hunt, the business network coordinator at the foundation. The pandemic transformed the world of work for many professionals and turned hybrid working into the “new normal” for more than a quarter of working adults in Great Britain, reveal ONS figures. However, some workers have had to fight for the right to keep working from home after the return-to-office mandates. In a positive development, even one local authority has adopted the change. Now, its 700 workers are expected to carry out 100% of their work in about 80% of their contracted hours, with no reduction in pay. The council implemented the change after a 27-month trial during which it recorded faster planning applications, housing repairs, and benefits processing. Besides, it made an annual saving of nearly £400,000 by filling vacancies permanently rather than relying on expensive agency workers. Several senior Labour politicians, including the deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, have voiced support for a four-day week, although the party has not embraced the policy since coming to power. Marketing and technology companies and charities have been ahead in adopting four-day weeks, says the 4 Day Week Foundation.

Independence Day special | British opium trade to Indian kitchens; the dark history of Bengal's comfort food

Every year on August 15, when India marks its Independence Day, the skies of many cities are filled with kites, trying to fly above each other and 'cut' each other down. The kite-flying tradition is intricately linked to India's freedom from British colonial rule, as it was once used as a form of protest. Today, kite enthusiasts battle it out, trying to cut the opponents’ kite strings using threads or ‘manjha’ coated with abrasives. These informal contests promote community bonding. Often, the kites carry patriotic and social messages like “I Love India” or “Beti Bachao (save the girl child).” Here is the story of how kites became associated with India’s Independence Day.

How kite flying was used as a symbolic protest during India's freedom struggle

In 1927, during a movement against the Simon Commission, Indians flew kites with slogans like 'Go Back Simon' as a peaceful form of protest. Cut off from the royal purse, the pair signed their first Netflix deal in 2020 for a reported $100 million. That figure was never confirmed, and no financial terms have been revealed for the extension. The New York Times reported Monday that the new deal is worth less for Harry and Meghan than the previous agreement, citing a person familiar with the terms. "Harry & Meghan," a six-episode tell-all about their relationship and exit from the House of Windsor, drew 23 million views in its first four days -- a record for a Netflix documentary. Despite withering reviews from critics, "With Love, Meghan" had over five million views in the first half of 2025, making it Netflix's most-watched cooking show. The upcoming holiday special will feature Meghan hosting "friends and family" as they "deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs," the statement promised. Later this year, Netflix will release a short documentary from Archewell Productions about a small orphanage in Uganda. The couple are also producing a "romance feature adaptation" of Carley Fortune's novel "Meet Me At The Lake," though no Netflix release has been confirmed.

Millions of people who suffer from hair loss issues, the majority of the time, resort to the hair transplant method, but given the apprehensions of being risky, experts have busted the myths and explained the correct process of approaching hair transplant.

Hair fall is a common concern, and many turn to age-old remedies for reducing hair loss and encouraging healthy regrowth. But nowadays many are still wanting to give hair transplantation a try. But, at the same time, several have misconceptions about this method for retaining hair. Let's dig into what expert has to say about myths and facts of hair transplants. Expert on differentiating between myths and facts of hair transplants When asked what are the common myths encountered and how does DHI aim to educate patients on the realities of these procedures, the expert stated, " at DHI consistently challenges popular misconceptions around hair restoration. Patients are quite surprised when they learn they can resume normal activities the next day". DHI also spoke about adhering to rigorous protocols around safety checks, one-time use instruments, and strict sterilisation standards. Also integrated more stringent PPE norms and increased the frequency of sanitation cycles in all our clinics.
