Fans across India on Friday rejoiced as Tamil actor-turned politician Kamal Haasan's film 'Vishwaroopam 2' released across the country after overcoming legal troubles.
Excited fans were seen dancing to drum beats and crowding at ticket counters to watch their favourite film star's movie. 'Vishwaroopam 2' is Haasan's first movie after he joined politics.
Fans who usually go overboard with the celebrations before a film's release, kept it relatively low-key this time around after the recent demise of veteran Indian politician, M Karnunanidhi.
"We had plans to make it much grander than we did for Vishwaroopam. But considering the recent situation, we have decided to keep it low this time. But we still are supportive of him and have high expectations for the movie," said a Kamal Haasan fan Raja.
However, some fans were seen worshipping the cutouts of the 63-year-old actor and offering milk to it as a way of showing respect.

The drama-thriller also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose and Shekhar Kapur. Written, directed, and produced by Hassan himself, the film has been shot in two languages, Hindi and Tamil and is also being dubbed in Telugu.
The first instalment of the film that released in 2013 had faced many obstacles before it saw the light of day. Muslim groups had been protesting against the release of the movie, labelling its contents as anti-Muslim.
The film was marred with controversy after makers had to face a legal battle over a financial dispute, however, on Thursday the Madras High Court ruled in favour of the film and paved way for its release.
