“Ye is one of the most recognizable people in the world, on par with presidents and popes,” the letter reads.
Further, the letter addressed that West understands the brand value that comes with his name, Kanye West, and the sacrifice that he made by ditching it, which he now considers a ''slave name.''
“He didn’t take the decision to change his name, potentially sacrificing some of the immense value captured by the brand of ‘Kanye West,’ lightly. The change was made fully, legally, and permanently. This is who he is now. His name is Ye.”
The letter continues, “He has on several occasions referred to it as his slave name. Ye is a black man in America who wants the right to full self-determination just like everyone else.”

Earlier, in a radio interview, the singer explained the significance behind his name Ye, as he said it is the most used word in the Bible.
Kanye said, "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us. It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything."
The letter comes a few weeks after Kanye threatened to shut all his social media handles after he demanded to change his name from Kanye West to Ye on his verified Instagram handle.
In the post that has now been deleted, the rapper mentioned that his name will be changed shortly as he slammed those who are continuously forcing him to continue with his old name.
"I'm closing my Kanye West Instagram account. My name is Ye. No brand or numbers gonna force me to call myself what they still want me to be,'' he wrote in the post. However, now his Instagram handle name has been changed to Ye.
