Celebrating the best work intheatre, the 2024 Tony Awards was a night of celebration, big moments and mind-blowing performances. Held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City, the award night was hosted by Oscar-winning actor Ariana DeBose.
At the 77th annual Tony Awards, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe won his first Tony Award for Merrily We Roll Along. Radcliffe won the prestigious award for Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance asCharley Kringas. This was the actor's first nomination.

Moved to tears, Radcliffe started his acceptance speech by saying, “I’m going to talk fast and try not to cry.”
Wishing dad happy Father's Day and mentioning his girlfriend Erin and their newborn son, the 34-year-old actor said, “My mum and dad are here somewhere — happy Father’s Day, dad, I love you both so much,” Radcliffe said in his acceptance speech. “Thank you for playing Sondheim in the car and just, you know, loving me…and my love Erin — you and our son are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you so much, thank you so much. Thank you everybody.”
Expressing gratitude towardshis co-stars, the actor in his speechsaid, ''It is an honour to be on that stage with you every single night. I will miss it so much.''

Daniel Radcliffe rose to fame at age 12 when he began portraying Harry Potter in the film series of the same name. Interacting with the reporters afterhis big win, the actor said he wasn't sure what path his career would take following the Potter films.
“When I finished [‘Harry Potter’] I had no idea what my career was going to be. I’d already started doing some stage stuff, but I didn’t know what the future held at all,” he said.
“To have had the last year playing weird Al and also Merrily We Roll Along, it’s been awesome.”
Talking about the fear and anxiety after playing the Harry Potter role, he said, “Playing one character for a very long time builds up an anxiety, like, Do as many things as you possibly can. So yeah, I’m doing that right now.”
Tony Awards Big Winners
Apart from Daniel, the other big winner of the night wasThe Outsiders. Angelina Jolie won her first Tony as a producer, with the Broadwayshowwinning the Best Musical award. Jonathan Groff took home Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in themusical Merrily We Roll Along.
