Emilia Clarke who is best known for playing the Queen Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones has now been cast in a crime drama. Titled Criminal, the show is based on a graphic novel series created by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

In the show that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video, Emilia Clarke will play a girl named Mallory who is described as “a slick and daring armed robber, as quick with a gun as she is with her wits. Part of a heist crew with Ricky Lawless (Gus Halper), who she’s in a passionate Bonnie-and-Clyde-like affair with. Mallory is a woman on the edge, living on the wrong side of the law and hiding secrets that will bring her and her entire crew into the danger zone.”

Criminal will also feature actors Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Adria Arjona, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier and Dominic Burgess.

The show will have showrunners, Brubaker and Jordan Harper.

Why was Emilia Clarke recently in news?

Emilia Clarke was recently trending on social media, especially Instagram and X as HBO show House of the Dragon dropped its most recent episode and featured a bloody war between the dragons of Westeros.

Emilia played Daenerys Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones is the original series and was a massive success. House of the Dragon is a spinoff of the show which predates the events of Game of Thrones by some 200 years.

Emilia has also featured in Marvel’s Secret Invasion, Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story and Terminator: Genisys. In 2022, Clarke made her West End stage debut in Anya Reiss’ adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull.
