Work on ‘Black Widow’ is scheduled to start in June in London.

English actress Florence Pugh is currently in talks to star opposite Scarlett Johansson in ‘Black Widow’, Marvel’s standalone film on the female superhero.

The female Avenger is to get a film soon as Australian filmmaker, Cate Shortland is prepping to start work on it. Cate is best known for the Nazi film ‘Lore’.

The plot of the film has, however, been kept under wraps. It is set to centre around spy Natasha Romanoff who grew up to be an assassin as she was trained by the KGB. She broke off the group and became an agent of SHIELD and then an Avenger.

Work on ‘Black Widow’ is scheduled to start in June in London. The most recent draft was written by Jac Schaeffer.

As for Florence, she started off as an undercover agent on AMC’s miniseries ‘The Little Drummer Girl’. She was also seen in ‘The Outlaw King’ with Chris Pine and ‘Fighting With My Family’.

She will also be seen in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’, whose all-star cast includes Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson and Meryl Streep. Florence also has ‘Midsommar’, a horror film from Ari Aster, the filmmaker behind ‘Hereditary’. It is set for a release on August 9.
