Ellen Degeneres faces criticism for tweeting about 'people of colour', fans remind her its a movement for the blacks

Ellen Degeneres has received backlash for a tweet that she had posted on social media about the ongoing anti-racism protest that has erupted in various cities of US.
Degeneres' tweet, which the chat show host later deleted, was termed as vague and tone-deaf.
The 62-year-old comic is known for ending each episode of her talk show with the phrase "be kind to one another" an shared a powerful video urging her fans to spread love that came along with a pair of tweets advocating for people to donate to worthwhile causes to support the Black Lives Matter movement. But these tweets came after she deleted a tweet that received a lot of criticism for people for lacking any substance.
According to screenshots that were taken of the now-deleted tweet, Degeneres wrote, "Like so many of you, I am angry and I am sad. People of color in this country have faced injustice for far too long. For things to change, things must change. We must commit ourselves to this change with conviction and love."
While the message clearly talked about unity, a lot of people took notice of how Degeneres played safe and generalised the movement by mentioned 'People of Colour'. The movement at present talks about the discrimination that Blacks face in America on a daily basis and many felt her generalising the movement did not help.

She deleted the tweet and tried to damage control but many questioned her for not disclosing the amount she had reportedly pledged to George Floyd's foundation.
"i still find it funny how Ellen Degeneres, a woman who is famous for boastfully signing life-size checks to random people on her show, can't even post a screenshot on the internet of her donating money in support of Black lives," one user wrote.
"Do something. Pay for police to be retrained. Pay for the lawyers of innocent protestors. Pay your staff that’s been laid off," added MTV star Ashley Brooke.
This isn't the first time in recent months that Degeneres has faced criticism. Earlier while quarantining in her palatial residence, she had equated staying indoors as being in jail which many thought was an insensitive thing to say condiering the lockdown in America have left the homeless with no food.
