Released on April 17, it revolves around Arjun who inherits a palace in a village in India and plans his sister's wedding there despite its haunted past. WION review of the film reads, "Bhooth Bangla is a movie that works in parts but doesn't fully live up to its potential. The first half is funny, nostalgic, and has great performances, but the second half gets heavier, darker, and less fun, which makes the movie less powerful.” Also Read: Patralekhaa breaks silence, slams online trolls over post-pregnancy weight gain It further reads, "While it offers moments of laughter, a few jump scares, and may even remind audiences of films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa in terms of style and character dynamics, it feels short of the level of the iconic Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan collaborations. Bhooth Bangla is a decent one-time watch for fans of the genre and Akshay Kumar’s comic timing, but do not expect something as memorable as the duo’s previous films."

WION's review of Bhooth Bangla

As per WION's Nikita Toppo, Bhooth Bangla is a movie that works in parts but doesn't fully live up to its potential. The first half is funny, nostalgic, and has great performances, but the second half gets heavier, darker, and less fun, which makes the movie less powerful. While it offers moments of laughter, a few jump scares, and may even remind audiences of films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa in terms of style and character dynamics, it feels short of the level of the iconic Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan collaborations.

Also Read: Bhoot Bangla trailer: Akshay, Priyadarshan reunite for a spooky laughter ride

About Bhooth Bangla

Helmed by Priyadarshan, the horror comedy film holds more than just its genre. Asraniji ke saath meri second last film. Total 12 films humne saath ki, aur har ek mein maine unse kuch naya seekha... it was like a masterclass every single time. Comedy itni aasaan lagti thi jab woh karte the, lekin asal mein woh ek mushkil kala hai. Asrani ji uske ustad the aur hamesha rahenge."

With Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have reunited after more than a decade, automatically raising expectations for a horror-comedy packed with humour and thrills. After all, this duo has delivered cult classics like Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, and the iconic Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Their latest is set in a mysterious village and revolves around a haunted palace; the film leans heavily on nostalgia while trying to combine spooky elements with comedy. Honestly, like many others, I walked into the theatre with Bhool Bhulaiyaa lingering in my mind, but does the film deliver? Bhooth Bangla Review: Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadav's strong performances lead Priyadarshan's uneven horror-comedy

The Madras High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by actor Tamannaah Bhatia challenging an order of a single judge rejecting her plea seeking damages of Rs 1 crore from Power Soaps. The actor had earlier filed a plea seeking damages for 'unauthorisedly' using her images despite the expiry of the contract.

What is the case about?

According to a report in Live Law, the bench of Justice P Velmurugan and Justice K Govindarajan Thilakavadi upheld the order passed by the single judge in 2017. Tamannaah had filed a law suit in allegeing that she entered into an agreement with Power Soaps on October 7, 2008, under which her pictures would be used on the wrappers of the company's soaps. The agreement was entered into for a period of one year and was valid till October 6, 2009. The actress had stated that the agreement was not renewed after it expired.

Despite the expiry of the agreement, the actress alleged that the soap brand continued to use her pictures on its products without her approval. She submitted that such continued usage had caused her loss. The actor sought damages of ₹1 crore and a permanent injunction restraining Power Soaps from further use of her images. Meanwhile the company stated that Tamannaah was not entitled to claim any amount for imaginary damages.

In 2017, the single judge had dismissed Tamannaah's plea after finding that the materials she produced were not genuine documents, mainly because they failed to establish that the company was responsible for the existence of the wrappers or for their misuse of the actor's images.

On Thursday, the court upheld the order passed in 2017.

Hence, the court dismissed her plea, refusing to grant any damages as claimed by her. This order has now been upheld by the division bench.

On the work front, Tamannaah will be seen next in Vvan – Force of the Forrest. The thriller film, previously slated for May 15 release, will hit theatres on August 28. The film also stars Sidharth Malhotra.

In her lawsuit, Tamannaah had sought Rs 1 crore in damages from Power soaps for using her images for promotion even after the contract had expired. The plea had already been dismissed by a single judge back in 2017.
