The Supreme Court on Tuesday strongly criticised Karnataka’s ban on the Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life and said that mobs cannot dictate film screenings. It also transferred the case to itself and slammed the Karnataka High Court over its suggestion that the actor apologise to resolve the issue. The apex court also issued a notice in the case of the ban on the release of Kamal Haasan’s Tamil film Thug Life in Karnataka, while criticising groups that threatened to ban the film’s release over some controversial remarks made by the actor. ‘Groups of hooligans cannot decide what gets screened in theatres’ The court said that ‘groups of hooligans’ cannot be allowed to decide what gets screened in theatres, and the rule of law cannot be held hostage to mob threats, and warned. A bench of Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Manmohan strongly criticised groups that threatened to burn down theatres over Haasan’s remarks claiming “Kannada was born from Tamil.” “If someone has made a statement, you counter it with another statement. Why threaten to burn down cinemas? “If enlightened people of Karnataka and Bengaluru believe his statement was wrong, they can issue a statement saying so. The court also quoted past judgments, including the Bombay High Court verdict in the Mi Nathuram Boltoy play case, and the Imran Pratapgarhi ruling, to support the argument that differing views must be allowed in a democracy. Reiterating its role, the court said, “We are the custodians of the rule of law. That is what the Supreme Court is for.” The bench said that the rule of law demands that any film that has a CBFC certificate must be released, and the state has to ensure its screening. Some critics accused the film of allegedly promoting "love jihad." "Love Jihad" is a controversial and politically charged term used in certain parts of the country to describe an alleged conspiracy where Muslim men are said to lure non-Muslim women into romantic relationships or marriage to convert them to Islam. ‘My daughter is married to a Hindu’ Responding to that, Aamir said, "When people from two religions, particularly Hindu and Muslim, fall in love and get married, that's not always love jihad. This is just humanity. It's above religion." The actor pointed out that his daughter and sisters were married to Hindus, and would that be considered love jihad? “My sister Nikhat is married to Santosh Hegde, both my wives were Hindu, my daughter Ira Khan also married a Hindu, so what does this mean that there is also love jihad?” Aamir's sister Farhat is married to Rajeev Dutta, while his other sister Nikhat is married to Santosh Hegde. His daughter, Ira Khan, also recently got married to Nupur Shikhare. Aamir himself has been married to two Hindu women, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. When asked why the names of his kids are Ira Khan, Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan when he had Hindu wives, Aamir said, "My kids have been named by my wives. There wasn't any interference from my end. Husbands ki zyada chalti nahi hai (Husbands don't have too much of a say)". Aamir further revealed that his daughter Ira’s name was picked from former BJP minister Maneka Gandhi's book 'The Penguin Book of Hindu Names' while his son Azad was named after his legendary ancestor, Maulana Azad, who was a freedom fighter and the first Education Minister of Independent India. On the work front, Aamir Khan will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par opposite Genelia D'Souza. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film will release on June 20.

<p>Aamir Khan has addressed the controversy surrounding his 2014 film <i>PK</i>, rejecting claims that the film was anti-religious or promoted ‘Love Jihad’.&nbsp;</p>

Aamir Khan says PK was not anti-religion, did not promote love jihad: My sisters, daughter are married to Hindu men

<p>Today marks five years since the tragic passing of beloved Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. On this solemn occasion, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti paid tribute to her late brother by sharing an emotional video honouring his memory and legacy.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sushant was found dead in his Mumbai residence in June 2020 at the age of 34. The postmortem confirmed the cause of death as ‘asphyxia due to hanging’. Weeks later, his family lodged an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and five others for abetment to suicide.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In August 2020, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Earlier this year, in March, the CBI submitted a closure report concluding that there was no evidence of foul play.</p><h2>Shweta Singh Kirti shares a heartfelt tribute</h2><p>In the Instagram video, Shweta reflected on the years since Sushant’s death, sharing a message of hope, strength, and love “Today is Bhai's 5th Death Anniversary, a lot has happened since his death on 14th June 2020. Now CBI has submitted a report to the court and we are in a process of retrieving it. But what I want to say today is no matter what happens, don’t lose heart and don’t lose faith on god or in goodness. Always remember what our Sushant stood for… purity, an unquenchable zeal for life and learning, a heart full of love which believed in treating everyone equally and doing charity.”</p>

<h2>‘Let his legacy live on’</h2><p>Shweta also urged fans and followers to honour Sushant’s memory positively and not use his name to spread negativity “Never use Bhai’s name to spread any negative feeling… he wouldn’t like that. He didn’t stand for that. Look how many people’s heart and mind he touched and influenced…. Let his legacy continue… you be the burning candle that lights up other candles to continue his legacy. Any great person’s legacy always grows after he has passed on….. you know why is that? Because the magnetism of their personality sows seeds and influences minds for generations to come.”</p>

Today marks five years since the tragic passing of beloved Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. On this solemn occasion, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti paid tribute to her late brother by sharing an emotional video honouring his memory and legacy. Sushant was found dead in his Mumbai residence in June 2020 at the age of 34. The postmortem confirmed the cause of death as ‘asphyxia due to hanging’. Weeks later, his family lodged an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and five others for abetment to suicide. In August 2020, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Earlier this year, in March, the CBI submitted a closure report concluding that there was no evidence of foul play. Shweta Singh Kirti shares a heartfelt tribute In the Instagram video, Shweta reflected on the years since Sushant’s death, sharing a message of hope, strength, and love “Today is Bhai's 5th Death Anniversary, a lot has happened since his death on 14th June 2020. Now CBI has submitted a report to the court and we are in a process of retrieving it. But what I want to say today is no matter what happens, don’t lose heart and don’t lose faith on god or in goodness. Always remember what our Sushant stood for… purity, an unquenchable zeal for life and learning, a heart full of love which believed in treating everyone equally and doing charity.”

<h2>Kesari Chapter 2 plot</h2><p>Indian cinema has revisited the haunting tragedy of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre several times before. The latest addition to the list is Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2. The movie revolves around C. Sankaran Nair, an Indian barrister, who is asked by the Britishers to investigate the massacre. However, after finding out the truth about General Regunald Dyer. Nair, along with young law college graduate Dilreet Gill (Panday), sues General Dyer – the man and the Crown, for conspiracy and genocide.</p><h2>Kesari Chapter 2 review</h2><p>WION's Shomini Sen gave a positive review of the movie, calling it ''impactful.''</p><p>''The actors are all in top form. Akshay Kumar’s stardom looms large only in the beginning when his character is introduced with a Kathakali performance. I am willing to ignore the brief Kathakali performance simply because Kumar delivers a smart, compelling performance, never going overboard with his expressions and emotions. Giving him company is R Madhavan as his rival, Neville McKinley, an angsty lawyer who wants to put Nair down with a court verdict on Dyer. The face-off between the two actors at court is well enacted, with both Kumar and Madhavan delivering smart performances.''</p>
