AR Rahman will take serious action against those who have or will continue to share defamatory posts about his divorce or family.
The Oscar-winning music composer has been in the headlines since the news of his divorce from his wife Saira Banu was made public. Coincidentally, on the same day, Mohini Dey, a bassist of Rahman's troupe, announced her divorce. This led many to speculate the link between the two breakups, discussing the possible reason behind Rahman's separation from his wife.
Amidst all the false reports that have been spreading, AR Rahman's legal team has issued a warning against those who have been spreading defamatory posts related to his divorce.
On Saturday (Nov 23), Rahman shared a three-page warning to the "slanderers" who have been sharing objectionable content related to him.

A part of the notice reads, "It is noticed some of the social media platforms and several you-tubers have started a series of calumny and defamatory write-ups about the same with their own concocted and fertile imaginary stories on their private life. There were also interviews by some busy bodies about their own perspective on the failure of their marriage life. It is unnecessary to reproduce each one of the statements that was spread across the social-media platform which is intended to spread knowledge and awareness."
Through the letter, they have issued a warning to remove all the objectionable content in the next 24 hours. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against them.
"My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours, he will be advised to file appropriate criminal defamation case under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and in such an event the offenders are liable to be punished with an imprisonment of two years, with or without fine as the court may determine under Section 356 (2) of the said Act."
Earlier, Rahman's lawyer Vandana Shah dismissed the rumours connecting Rahman and Banu's separation with Mohini Dey's divorce.
During an interview with Republic TV, she said, “There is no connection at all. Saira and Mr Rahman made this decision on their own.”
On November 19, AR Rahman's wife Saira announced their separation from the music composer, ending three decades of marriage.
