ZIM vs IND, 2nd T20I: Abhishek Sharma stars with record ton as India level series with dominating win

India came back strongly in the second T20I against Zimbabwe to equal the five-match series 1-1 with a dominating 100runs win on Sunday (Jul 7). The 2024 T20 World Cup champions were handed a shock loss in the first T20I on Saturday.
Chasing a huge total of 235, India bowled Zimbabwe out for a paltry 134in 18.4overs to win the gamein Harare. Pacers Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan picked three wickets each for India while spinner Ravi Bishnoiand Washington Sundar chipped with two and one wickets each.
The hosts were never in hunt as they lost four wickets in the powerplay for 58 runs. After a brief partnership of 26 runs for the fifth wicket, Zimbabwe lost three wickets in space of four runs, and were brought on their knees at 76/7 in 11.1 overs.

Opener Wessly Madhevere, however, kept the fight on with 43off 39balls, adding 41runs for the eighth wicket with Luke Jongwe. The effort was too little too late for Zimbabwe, nonetheless. Jongwe also played a handy innings of 33off 26balls.
The game started with India skipper Shubman Gill winning the toss and electing to bat first. India, however, again got a bad start as Gill departed in the second over of the match.

Ruturaj Gaikwad then joined Sharma on the crease and the duo added 137 runs for the second wicket. Sharma got out on the last ball of the 14th over after a blistering 47-ball 100 innings.
After Sharma's dismissal, Rinku Singh, who also scored a duck in the first T20I, showed his class.
Both the batters added 87 runs in the last six overs as India posted a mammoth 234/2 in 20 overs. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 77 off 47 balls while Rinku hit 48 not out off 22 balls with the help of two hours and five sixes.
India, however, were slow in the first ten overs of the game, scoring just 74 runs. Abhishek then changed the momentum with 28 runs off 11th over bowled by Dion Myers. Abhishek hit three fours and two sixes in the over and reached his maiden fifty as well.
For Zimbabwe, Wellington Masakadza and Blessing Muzarabani took one wicket each.
