India beat Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (Oct. 6) to register their first win of the tournament. Chasing a target of 106, India didn't face muchdifficulty and reached the target in 18.5overs for a six-wicket victory.
India started cautiously in the chase before losing Smriti Mandhana in 4.3 overs with 18 on the board. Shefali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues then added 43 runs for the second wicket before Omaima Sohailsent back Shefali in the 12th over on a personal score of 32.
Rodrigues (23) and Richa Ghosh then departed on consecutive balls in the 16th over by Fatima Sana as the match got a bit tricky.

Deepti Sharma and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (29retired hurt) then addedunbeaten 24runs for the fifth wicket to guidethe team home after the loss in their tournament opener against New Zealand.
Earlier, Pakistan women won the toss and elected to bat first in Duabi, UAE. The decision was proved wrong soon as Renuka Singh took out Gull Feroza on the last ball of the first over.

Deepti then sent back Sidra Amin in the fifth over as Pakistan finished powerplay at 29 runs for the loss of two wickets. They lost two more in the next four overs to be at 41/4 at the half-way mark in the innings.
Pakistan could never recover from the early jolts, as was evident by their highest partnership, which was 25 runs for the second wicket. They eventually finished at 105/8 in 20 overs.
For India, all five bowlers used by skipper Kaur took wickets, with Arundhati Reddy being the pick for her 3/19 in four overs. Shreyanka Patil picked 2/12 in four overs while Renuka, Deepti and Asha Shobhana took one each.
With the win, India got their first two points in the tournament and sit at fourth place in the five-team Group A after two matches.
Their next match is against Sri Lanka, who are at bottom after two losses in two matches,on October 9.
