Kanpur, India
The second Test match between India and Bangladesh did not go according to the plans for the visitors as rain played spoilsport on Day 1 of the contest. In a must-win contest to avoid the series defeat, Bangladesh lost three wickets on Day 1 with only 35 overs bowled. However, it was an off-field issue that raised eyebrows as Bangladesh’s popular mascot Tiger Roby was escorted by police from the stadium.
? Bangladeshi fan Tiger Roby
- In Chennai he was openly shouting India=enemy, ICC=BCCI.
- In Kanpur he abused Siraj
Kanpur crowd had it enough and replied him in a language he understands.
Now entire Bangladesh is playing victim card as usual.

Tiger Roby escorted from the stadium
In a video surfacing on the internet, Kanpur police were seen escorting the mascot from the stadium premises to the hospital. The video showed Kanpur police coming to the aid of the mascot as he was rushed. He was seen sitting on a chair while earlier footage showcased he was aided by guards to a safe place.
The mascot is famous for appearing in the Bangladesh cricket team’s matches in a tiger-like mask while also wearing a yellow tiger costume.
However, it was later cleared that he was not feeling well which led to his escort while no one had acted violently.
"I fell ill and the police brought me to the hospital and got me treated. Now I am feeling much better. My name is Robi and I have come from Bangladesh," Robi said.
What happened on Day 1?
Having won the toss after a delayed start to the match, Rohit Sharma became the first captain in 60 years to choose bowling. The Indian skipper’s decision proved to be worthy as they got the better of Zakir Hasan for a duck having faced 24 balls before heading back to the pavilion. Shadman Islam soon followed him as he was dismissed for 24 off 36 balls. The partnership of skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) and Mominul Haque restructured the innings.
Rain would again play its part as the umpires finally decided to call off Day 1 at 2:56 pm. At the Stumps on Day 1, Mominul Haque was batting on 40 while Mushfiqur Rahim was on 6 with Bangladesh on 107/3. Akash Deep scalped two wickets while Ashwin bagged one in a day-curtailed contest.
Ashwin breaks Kumble’s record
On the fifth ball of the 29th over, Ashwin scalped the wicket of Shanto which saw him write yet another chapter in his illustrious career. The veteran all-rounder now has 420 wickets in the Test format on Asian soil surpassing Kumble’s tally. In fact, only Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan with 612 wickets has more success on Asian soil.
