Nafees Iqbal, former Bangladesh batter and brother of Tamim Iqbal, suffers brain haemorrhage

Former Bangladesh batter Nafees Iqbal is under observation in a hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage in Chattogram on Friday (Jul 5). Iqbal, who is brother of former skipper Tamim Iqbal, also served as the team's logistics manager in recently concluded T20 World Cup.
After returning with the team last Friday, Nafees complained of headache for a few days before being admitted to the hospital. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashis Chowdhury, however, confirmed that the batter is now out of danger. He will take a few weeks to fully recover though.

"Specialists have informed us that Nafees is suffering from something called cerebral venous thrombosis," Chowdhury told reporters.
"He has blood clots in that part of his brain. He is now stable. His parameters are good. He will be here for a few more days. They have said that if it doesn't get worse, he will make full recovery. He has to be observed closely on the first day. He might be shifted to a ward soon, but these things take a few weeks," he added.
Nafees played for Bangladesh from 2003 to 2006. He made his debut against England in an ODI in Chattogram. The batter went on to play 16 ODIs for the country, scoring 309 runs at an average of 19 and hit two fifties with a highest of 58.

He made his Test debut against New Zealand in Dhaka in October 2004 - almost an year after playing his first ODI. He featured in a total of 11 Tests for Bangladesh, scoring 518 runs in 22 innings at an average of 23. He also hit two fifties and a hundred withhighest score being 121.
Nafees' last ODI was against Australia in 2005 while he last played in red-ball cricket against Sri Lanka in March 2006.
