New Delhi, India
Former Indian batter-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar lashed out at India head coach Gautam Gambhir following his press conference on Monday (Nov 11). Ahead of his departure to Australia, where India play five Tests starting on November 22, Gambhir faced a barrage of questions from the media, in Mumbai, and answered on India's recent Test series humiliation versus New Zealand, captain Rohit Sharma's availability for Australia series opener, poor form of Virat Kohli, social media trolls, etc. However, Manjrekar isn't pleased with Gambhir's way of handling the press. Hence, he made a special request to the BCCI.
Taking to his official account on X, formerly Twitter, Manjrekar wrote, "Just watched Gambhir in the press conference. May be wise for the BCCI to keep him away from such duties, let him work behind the scenes. He does not have the right demeanour nor the words when interacting with them. Rohit & Agarkar, much better guys to front up for the media."

Gambhir was asked plenty of tough questions in the recent media interaction. He put on a brave face and slammed Australian great Ricky Ponting for criticising Kohli for his poor run. He even mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in case Rohit misses a few games in the forthcoming 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, his conduct during the presser has surely not impressed Manjrekar, who never shies away from sharing his views.
India's tour of Australia kicks off later this month, with the five-match Test series opener on November 22 in Perth.
