IPL 2024: CSK continue the winning start to new season
Struggling Delhi Capitals (DC) will be facing table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday, (March 31) in Visakhapatanam. Capitals are ninth on the points table in the ten-team event with two losses in two matches while CSK have won both their games so far.
The good news for DC is that Rishabh Panthas looked his old self since makingreturn to the competitive cricket after a 14-month rehab following a horrific car accident in December 2022. DC, however, have other worries with injuries to pacer Ishant Sharma and batter Shai Hope.

Their pacer battery of South African Anrich Nortje and Australian Jhye Richardson have also looked rusty after coming off from a long injury lay-off.
For CSK, it's all merry under new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad with depth in batting being their power. They haven't needed wicketkeeper MS Dhoni to bat yet in the tournament - a testimony to their batting depth. CSK won both their matches comfortably, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
Against RCB in the season opener, CSK chased the target of 174 with four wickets and eight balls in hand - thanks to decent contribution from everyone in the batting line up. Against GT, they posted 206/6 in 20 overs after some belligerent batting by Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube and stopped Titans at 143/8.

As for DC, they failed to defend 175 against Punjab Kings in their first match and lost the match by four wickets. In the second match, they allowed Rajasthan Royals to post 185/5 despite having them on edge at 36/3 in 7.2 overs. While chasing, DC lost the plot in the end overs and could manage only 173/5 despite Tristan Stubbs' 23-ball 44 not out and lost the match by 12 runs.
