Notably, there are some big changes in the Ashes schedule. Brisbane, which has traditionally hosted the Ashes opener since 1982-83, will instead host the second Test under lights. Thus, The Gabba won't open the Ashes series Down Under for the first time in over four decades. Adelaide, on the other hand, hosted the day-night Test in the last two Ashes series in Australia but will now hold the pre-Christmas Test as a day game. It has been done as a result of a new agreement between CA and the South Australian government, positioning the Test as a marquee holiday event due to its strong tourism appeal.
England have not won the Ashes in Australia since the 2010/11 edition. Moreover, Australia have the urn since the 2017/18 series.
