BMW India launches new MINI Cooper S and Electric MINI Countryman

BMW India has introduced the new MINI Cooper S, starting at INR 44,90,000, and the all-electric MINI Countryman, starting at INR 54,90,000. Available as completely built-up units (CBU), these models can be booked at authorised MINI dealerships and online, with deliveries set to commence in September 2024.
The launch of these models marks the latest chapter in MINI's long history of balancing tradition with modern innovation.

The MINI Cooper S comes in ten vibrant colours, including Melting Silver, Midnight Black, and British Racing Green. Customers can opt for the 'Classic Pack' or the 'Favoured Pack' to personalise their vehicles further. The 'Classic Pack' features 17-inch U-Spoke Spectre Grey wheels, while the 'Favoured Pack' offers 18-inch Night Flash Spoke 2-Tone alloys. Upholstery options range from Double cloth textile in Black/Multitone to JCW Sports Seats with Vescin in Beige or Nightshade Blue.

Performance and Technology

Under the hood, the MINI Cooper S is powered by a 2.0-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo engine, producing 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 242 km/h. The 7-Speed Double Clutch Steptronic Transmission ensures efficient and sporty driving.

The All-Electric MINI Countryman

The all-electric MINI Countryman is available in nine colours, including Smokey Green and Slate Blue. Like the Cooper S, it offers the 'Classic Pack' and 'Favoured Pack' for further customisation. The 'Classic Pack' includes 17-inch Profile Aero Spoke Lighting Grey alloys, while the 'Favoured Pack' features 19-inch Kaleido Spoke Two-Tone wheels. Interior options include JCW Sports Seats with Vescin in Dark Petrol or Vintage Brown.

Performance and Technology

The MINI Countryman E features a powerful electric drivetrain, producing 204 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This allows the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Its 66.45 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a WLTP range of up to 462 km. Charging is efficient, with a 130 kW DC charger achieving 10 to 80% in 29 minutes, and a 22 kW AC charger reaching 100% in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Advanced Interior and Technology

Both models feature the MINI Interaction Unit, a 240mm Circular OLED touchscreen display that serves as the control hub for the new MINI Operating System 9. This system is optimised for touchscreen and voice control, enhancing connectivity and ease of use. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA), activated by saying “Hey MINI,” controls navigation, telephony, entertainment, and other functions.
The interior design focuses on minimalist aesthetics and sustainability. The dashboard and door panels are chrome-free and leather-free, made from recycled materials. Ambient lighting and projections from the MINI Interaction Unit enhance the cabin atmosphere.

Driving Experience and Safety

The new MINI models offer various driving modes through MINI Experience Modes, from the race-inspired ‘Go-Kart Mode’ to the energy-saving ‘Green Mode’. A distinctive Toggle Bar Island provides access to essential functions, including start/stop, gear selector, parking brake, and volume control.
Safety features include front passenger and side curtain airbags, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, and a Rear View Camera. The MINI Countryman also includes Comfort Access, automatically locking and unlocking the car based on the proximity of the key.

Ownership and Financial Solutions

BMW India offers comprehensive service plans for both models. The MINI Cooper S has a service inclusive plan starting from 3 years/40,000 km, extendable up to 10 years/200,000 km. The MINI Countryman E offers a service inclusive plan starting from 4 years/200,000 km, also extendable up to 10 years/200,000 km. The high voltage battery of the Countryman E is covered by an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty.
