BMW India launches new 5 Series long wheelbase at INR 72.9 lakh

BMW India has launched the all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase, with a starting price of INR 72.9 lakh. The vehicle is available for booking at BMW dealerships across India and online at, with deliveries beginning in September 2024.

The BMW 5 Series has long been a cornerstone of the BMW brand. Since its introduction in 1972, around 10 million units have been sold globally, making it a leader in the executive sedan segment. The eighth generation of this iconic model promises to be more dynamic and technologically advanced than ever before.

India is the first right-hand drive market to receive the long wheelbase version of the new 5 Series. This adaptation aims to meet the specific needs of BMW’s premium clientele in India, offering enhanced comfort and versatility for both business and personal use.

The new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase boasts impressive dimensions: a length of 5,165 mm, width of 2,156 mm, height of 1,518 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, making it the largest in its segment. The design features a steeply sloping A-pillar, a gently flowing roofline, and a distinctive kidney grille with BMW Iconic Glow contour line lighting.

Available in four metallic paintworks – Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, M Carbon Black, and Sparkling Copper Grey – the model also introduces a fully vegan interior upholstery with dual-tone combinations like Veganza | Copper Brown / Atlas Grey and Maritime / Black.

Interior and Technology

The interior is designed to provide luxury and comfort. Key features include comfort seats with perforated vegan leather upholstery, active seat ventilation, and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System. The driver-oriented BMW Curved Display and BMW Interaction Bar with touchscreen functionality redefine the cockpit design.

The latest BMW Operating System 8.5 allows for seamless interaction through touch or voice, complemented by the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Regular remote software updates ensure that the car's technology remains current.

The engine includes a 48V electrical motor for improved efficiency and dynamics, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.

The 8-speed Steptronic transmission ensures smooth gear shifts, enhancing the driving experience. The comfort suspension provides a luxurious ride with minimal body roll, offering stability and sporty dynamics.

Advanced Safety and Assistance

The vehicle comes equipped with an extensive range of safety and driver assistance systems, including Cruise Control, Attentiveness Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional, and Lane Change Warning. BMW EfficientDynamics features, such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, and Brake-Energy Regeneration, contribute to the car's efficiency.

Eight airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, and electronic parking brake with auto hold are among the standard safety features.
