The recent UK Youth Poll 2025, which was published by Glasgow University&rsquo;s John Smith Centre, also highlights that the differences within Gen Z regarding class, education or gender are more pronounced than differences between generations.

<h2>Biggest source of anxiety for youth</h2>
According to the poll, &ldquo;Financial worries are the biggest source of anxiety for young people and easing them is the key to making young people happier. Young people are focused on quality-of-life issues that affect their day-to-day lives, less so global or cultural matters.&rdquo;
The top three &ldquo;biggest contributors to you feeling nervous, anxious or on edge&rdquo; as per the poll are financial worries (37 per cent), work pressures (23 per cent) and job insecurity or unemployment (20 per cent). While social media (14 per cent) and climate change (10 per cent) were far behind on the list.

The majority of the young people agreed that social media should be banned for those under the age of 16. They believe that racism is a significant problem in the UK and that toxic masculinity is becoming more common. The poll also found that the youth are divided on the impact of feminism and support immigration.

The survey, which included 16 to 29-year-olds, also discovered that &ldquo;Democracy is backed over a dictatorship by 57 per cent to 27 per cent. But young people agree &lsquo;democracy in the UK is in trouble&rsquo; by 63 per cent to 24 per cent.&rdquo;

The study revealed that a third of young people are willing to engage in organised politics and three-quarters have taken part in some kind of political activity in the last 12 months.

The director of the John Smith Centre, Eddie Barnes said, &ldquo;Older generations may fixate on things like social media but for young people what&rsquo;s causing them anxiety is how do you get by, how do you get on the housing ladder?&rdquo;
&ldquo;In the interviews that we did, young people were talking about how they are simply surviving until the end of the week. The idea of building a career was something for the future,&rdquo; he added.

One of the most interesting things was how crime is far more important in terms of priorities than the environment.&rdquo;
The report concluded that Gen Z is a &ldquo;highly heterodox group&rdquo;. It added that their views on politics, democracy and their own future vary hugely based on their socioeconomic backgrounds.

In the past, the Russian Central Bank was hacked, where the systems had paused for considerable mount of time.&nbsp;
Uzair Sheikh (name changed), security researcher, said, "Amid the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the cyber front seems to be reaching new highs and lows with several data leakages as well as important websites either being taken down or getting defaced."

The Muslims of Mandalay gathered for a sombre first prayer of the Eid al-Fitr festival, marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, three days after a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck during Friday prayers.
The minaret of the Sajja South mosque in the Muslim neighbourhood of Mawyagiwah crashed to the ground in the quake, killing 14 children and two adults, locals said.
Four more people were killed at the neighbouring Sajja North mosque when its tower came down.
Many of the dead were from Win Thiri Aung's family, close and extended.
"In normal times, it is full of joy when it is Eid," the 26-year-old told AFP.
"Our hearts are light. This year, we are not like that. All of our minds are with the dead children. I see their faces in my eyes.&nbsp;
"We believe the souls of children and everyone we know who died have reached Paradise. We believe they were blessed deaths," she said, breaking down.&nbsp;
"It is a test from Allah. It is a reminder from him that we need to turn towards him. So we need to pray more."

Outside the alley leading to the mosques, the Eid worshippers, many wearing the new clothes that are the traditional gift for the festival, lined up on plastic sheeting laid on the road, held in place by bricks.&nbsp;

The pattern of destruction in&nbsp;Myanmar's second city is variable, with some buildings utterly devastated and a few areas of concentrated damage.
Down the street from the mosques, a resident said six people were killed when a dessert shop collapsed, as well as two people in a restaurant across the road.&nbsp;
But much of the city appeared unharmed, with traffic on the streets, some restaurants reopening and daytime life beginning to return to normal for many.&nbsp;
That is a distant prospect for those who have lost loved ones.&nbsp;
Sandar Aung's 11-year-old son Htet Myet Aung was seriously injured at Friday prayers and died that evening in hospital.&nbsp;

The epicentre of the quake was located near Mandalay, Myanmar&rsquo;s second-largest city, which experienced severe damage. Catosat-3 imagery is originally meant for urban planning, monitoring rural resource and infrastructure development, keeping track of coastal land use and land cover.
The scale of the tragedy is captured by comparing images of these locations in the cities of Mandalay and Sagaing in Myanmar, clicked on 18th March 2025 (pre-earthquake) and those clicked on 29th March 2025(a day after the earthquake).

A French court has sentenced far-right leader Marine Le Pen to a five-year ban from running for office, immediately blocking her potential 2027 presidential bid. The court also handed the 56-year-old politician a four-year prison sentence to be served under electronic surveillance.

Le Pen was present in court as presiding judge Benedicte de Perthuis began reading out the verdict, a process that should take less than two hours.
 "It's going to take a while," said the judge. "The court has no intention of keeping up suspense but it will, as is customary, provide a number of explanations for the decision taken."
 Le Pen said in a piece for the La Tribune Dimanche newspaper published on Sunday that the verdict gives the "judges the right of life or death over our movement".

With her RN emerging as the single largest party in parliament after the 2024 legislative elections, Le Pen believes she has the momentum to finally take the Elysee in 2027 on the back of public concern over immigration and the cost of living.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu picked former navy commander&nbsp;Eli&nbsp;Sharvit&nbsp;to be the next head of the domestic security agency, his office said Monday, despite the supreme court freezing the dismissal of the incumbent.
"After conducting in-depth interviews with seven worthy candidates, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to appoint former Israel navy commander, Vice-Admiral&nbsp;Eli&nbsp;Sharvit&nbsp;as the next director of the ISA (Shin Bet)," his office said in a statement.
It said&nbsp;Sharvit&nbsp;had served in the military for 36 years, including five years as navy commander.
"In that position, he led the force building of the maritime defence of the territorial waters and conducted complex operations against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran," the statement said.
Netanyahu's government moved to oust agency chief Ronen Bar on March 21, after previously citing an "ongoing lack of trust".
But after petitions filed by Israel's opposition and a non-governmental organisation, the supreme court suspended the government's dismissal of Bar.
According to the court, the freeze will remain in place until the appeals are presented before April 8.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu picked former navy commander Eli Sharvit to be the next head of the domestic security agency, his office said Monday, despite the supreme court freezing the dismissal of the incumbent. "After conducting in-depth interviews with seven worthy candidates, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to appoint former Israel navy commander, Vice-Admiral Eli Sharvit as the next director of the ISA (Shin Bet)," his office said in a statement. It said Sharvit had served in the military for 36 years, including five years as navy commander. "In that position, he led the force building of the maritime defence of the territorial waters and conducted complex operations against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran," the statement said. Netanyahu's government moved to oust agency chief Ronen Bar on March 21, after previously citing an "ongoing lack of trust". But after petitions filed by Israel's opposition and a non-governmental organisation, the supreme court suspended the government's dismissal of Bar. According to the court, the freeze will remain in place until the appeals are presented before April 8.
