Donald Trump received a hero's welcome at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC), hostedby the US city ofMilwaukee, after the former United States presidentsurvived a harrowing assassination attempt last week. But it appears that someone else stole the show. Can you guess who?
It's West Virginia Governor Jim Justice's pet English bulldog, Babydog, who made a surprise appearance at Day 2 of the RNC on Tuesday (Jul 16) where delegates were told she had predicted a Republican sweep in the upcoming elections in November.

Babydog, born in 2019, was brought out to sit on a chair beside Justice when the 73-year-old governor told the crowd that his pet "has got a prediction for everybody here".
"Babydog says that we will retain the House, the majority in the House, we are going to flip the United States Senate and overwhelmingly we are going to elect Donald J Trump and JD Vance in November," he said.
Justice, who tookoffice in 2017 as a Democrat but later moved to the Republican party the same year, said that Babydog was confident in her prediction, "Because we're worth it."

Vance formally accepts nomination
JD Vance formally accepted his nomination to be the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate in a keynote address on Wednesday. He alsourged Americanvoters to "choose a new path".
"I stand here humbled, and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude to say I officially accept your nomination to be vice president of the United States of America," Vance told the Convention.

Trump's former rivals for the Republican presidential nominationvoiced their support for his candidacy at the convention, ina display of unity especially after the assassination attempt.
The former US presidentwas wounded after the bullet grazed his ear and a rally attendee was killed on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania. The gunman was shot dead by Secret Service snipers.
