United States (US) President Joe Biden on Friday (July 5) asserted his will to be in the presidential race as he said he was feeling sickdue to a cold during the presidential debate last month. In an interview with ABC News, President Biden said, "I was sick, I was feeling terrible... We were trying to figure out what's wrong."
In Iran,reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian won the presidential runoff voteagainst ultraconservative Saeed Jalili, state media reported. Ofmore than 30 million votes counted so far,Pezeshkian garnered over 17 million and Jalili more than 13 million.
In other news from around the world, final opinion polls on the France snap electionsindicated that Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally (RN) is unlikely to secure an outright majority in the National Assembly.
