Israeli media reported a large drone attack by Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah into northern Israel on Tuesday (Aug 6). Several drones were reportedly launched, with one being intercepted and another falling in the city of Nahariya. Local media reports said at least 19 people were injured in the attack.
Initial investigations by the Israeli military suggested that the injuries were caused by an interceptor that “missed the target and hit the ground, injuring several civilians”. It said that the incident was still under review.
Reuters reported that one drone attack targeted a bus stop on a main road outside the city.
Hezbollah later confirmed it launched a “swarm” of combat drones towards the Israeli Army’s Golani Brigade headquarters in northern Israel and the Egoz Unit 621 at Shraga army base north of Acre.
The attack came as tensions between the two sides have been boiling following the July 30 attack by Israel in the city of Beirut that left senior Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr dead.

The next day, Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with the Jewish country neither denying nor confirming its role.
The two killings have pushed the entire West Asian region on edge, with fears looming of a full-blown war between Israel and its Iranian proxies.

Following the attack, a spokesperson for Hezbollah was quoted as saying by Reuters that the response to the death of Fuad Shukr is yet to come.
“The response to the assassination of Commander Fuad Shukr has not yet come," said the spokesperson.
The Lebanese group earlier said four of its members were killed in cross-fighting with the Jewish nation, without giving more details.
Over the last 10 years, Hezbollah and Israel Defense Forces (IDF)have exchanged fire in the backdrop of the Gaza war.
On Tuesday, media reported that Israeli aircraft flew over the Lebanese capital, and broke the sound barrier thrice within 30 minutes, setting off panic and alarm in Beirut.
Witnesses said they could see the planes with naked eyes. The incident came ahead ofHezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's address after a week ofShukr's death in Beirut.
