Israel’s military announced on Wednesday that eight soldiers were killed in "intense fighting" with Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, three days after launching ground operations there. The update on the raids comes nearly a year after Israel initiated its war against Hamas in Gaza, following the Iran-backed group's October 7 terrorist attack. In response, Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, began firing rockets at northern Israel.
