Forty years after Colombia’s devastating Armero tragedy, survivors and families have come together to honor the thousands who lost their lives in the 1985 volcanic eruption of Nevado del Ruiz. The disaster buried the town of Armero under mud and ash, killing more than 20,000 people. Survivors now unite in remembrance and hope, calling for better disaster preparedness and preservation of the victims’ memory.
