<p>A complicated and unusual surgery, which has been dubbed as a "miracle", was carried out by doctors on a 12-year-boy during which they reattached his head back to his neck after he got involved in an accident with a car while riding a bicycle, reported The Times of Israel.<br />

The boy, named Suleiman Hassan, went through an "internal decapitation" due to which his skull was detached from the top vertebrae of his spine after the accident, according to the news outlet. Scientifically, the condition is called 'bilateral atlanto occipital joint dislocation'.<br />

After the boy met with the accident, he was airlifted to Hadassah Medical Centre where he went for emergency surgery immediately. According to the doctors, his head was "almost completely detached from the base of his neck".</p>

<p>"Our ability to save the child was thanks to our knowledge and the most innovative technology in the operating room," he stated, adding that the doctor's team "fought for the boy's life". The surgeons also accepted that the recovery of the boy was no less than a miracle as there were&nbsp;only&nbsp;50 per cent chances of his survival.<br />

The operation happened last month, however, the results were not made public by the doctors till July. Recently, the hospital discharged Hassan with a cervical splint and the hospital stated that his recovery will still be monitored by the doctors.<br />

The person, however, was not identified due to medical confidentiality, according to reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Over the years, the French president has received several unpleasant items in his mail, including bullets but this was the first time that an amputated body part was delivered.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a miraculous escape, all 30 passengers on board a small plane survived after the jet crashed into a fence while landing and broke into pieces at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, Somalia.<br />

<p>Climate change-related extreme weather events are a significant contributing factor to the present scarcity of tomatoes, said <strong>Nimish Singh, Associate Fellow at the Earth Science and Climate Change Division, The Energy and Resources Institute&nbsp;(TERI).&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>“This year, India witnessed an early summer with high temperatures in February, followed by heat waves in March and April. Additionally, unseasonal rainstorms in May and an early onset of the monsoon led to the failure of tomato production in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Consequently, tomatoes have become expensive in these regions. Furthermore, the heavy rainfall spells have disrupted the vegetable supply chain, resulting in a further increase in prices for not only tomatoes but also almost all agricultural produce,” Singh told<strong> WION</strong>.</p>

<p>The inherent flaws in our agricultural system are also to be blamed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Insufficient infrastructure stands out as a key drawback in our agricultural system. Vegetables and fruits, with their limited shelf life, are susceptible to damage prior to reaching consumers. Therefore, there is a pressing need for a well-functioning cold chain infrastructure to address this issue, explains Singh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>People in Italy are expressing outrage after a judge ruled a caretaker's grope of a teenager "did not last long enough" to be deemed criminal. The 17-year-old girl at a Rome high school was reportedly walking up a staircase with a friend when she felt a 'foreign hand' touch her underwear.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The teenager claimed the man told her, "love, you know I was joking" when she turned around in shock. The accused was later identified as&nbsp;66-year-old Antonio Avola who was reported to the police.</p>

<p>"He groped my bottom. Then, he pulled me up - hurting my private parts. For me, this is not a joke. This is not how an old man should 'joke' with a teenager," the student told&nbsp;Corriere della Sera newspaper.</p>

<p>Avola admitted groping the student but maintained&nbsp;it was a joke, according to a BBC report. While the prosecutors asked for a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Avola, the judge acquitted the caretaker of sexual&nbsp;assault charges.</p>

<p>The National Weather Service reported that roofs blew off and trees were uprooted in the Cook County town and the storm blew out car windows in La Grange. The service stated that roof and tree damage was reported due to several other twisters. The weather service was informed by an unidentified emergency manager that a roof was blown off in the community of Huntley in McHenry County.</p>

<p>In the past, the Chicago metropolitan area witnessed tornadoes and many have hit within the city limits, as per the weather service. Around 92 significant tornadoes were recorded by the weather service between 1855 and 2008 in the Chicago metro area.&nbsp;</p>

<p>All the nine members of the Mangi family, residing in Pakistan, proudly celebrate&nbsp;their birthday&nbsp;on 1 August, establishing a world record for the most family members born on the same day of the year, reported Zee News.</p>

<h2><strong>Coinciding birthdays</strong></h2>

<p>Ameer Ali and his wife Khudeja, the parents of seven children, were astonished when all of their children were born on August 1.</p>

<p>Their eldest child, Sindhoo, arrived on 1 August 1992, followed by the births of twin girls Sasui and Sapna. Subsequently, Aamir and Ambar were born, and the twin brothers Ammar and Ahmar joined the family in later years.</p>

<p>This unique coincidence has earned them the world record for the most siblings born on the same day.</p>

<p>Remarkably, all the children in the Mangi family were born through natural deliveries.</p>

<p>Neither cesarean sections nor premature deliveries were involved, and Khudeja did not experience early labour.</p>

<p>Additionally, Ameer and Khudeja also celebrate their wedding anniversary as their and their children's birthdays, as they got married on 1 August 1991.</p>

<p>“For example, if you did that, then, you know – and I mean what I say – we’re determined to commit every inch of territory that is NATO territory. It’s a commitment that we’ve all made no matter what. If the war is going on, then we’re all in war. We’re at war with Russia, if that were the case.”</p>

<p>The communique released by NATO heads of state and governments participating in the meeting&nbsp;stated that Ukraine would only join the alliance "when allies agree and conditions are met".&nbsp;</p>

<p>A plesiosaur was last auctioned in Paris in 2010 and had come from a private collection in Germany at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As quoted by AFP, Cassandra Hotton, Sotheby's head of Science and Popular Culture, said that the remains, which are nearly 11 feet long, were found in a quarry in England in 1990. The skeleton is about 75 per cent complete and in exceptional condition.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Palaeontologists have said that the plesiosaur, with its small skull, long neck and flippers, existed around 190 million years ago during the Lower Jurassic period.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a news release, Sotheby's said, "The history of the Plesiosaur is also intertwined with the elusive Loch Ness monster of Scottish folklore, as many have drawn morphological comparisons between the Plesiosaur and the infamous 'Nessie,' whose sightings stretch back to the sixth century."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The auction house said, "Other than standard bone joining and stabilization, almost all of the original fossil bones remain essentially unrestored, meaning that artificial filler was not used to replace missing bone sections." &nbsp;</p>

<p>While the first twin weighed 180 grams, the second, which arrived two hours later, weighed 140 grams. Ai Bao was the proud mother of the pandas and could be seen caring for her newborns while the veterinarians examined the tiny cubs.</p>

<p>After the birth, the resort released a statement saying the mother and her newborns were in good health. The resort workers will now observe the cubs' health and determine when to unveil them to the public.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ai Bao, who was brought alongside Le Bao, a male panda to South Korea from China in 2016 on a 15-year lease, had previously birthed a female cub named Fu Bao.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Compared to when Fu Bao was born, there are two of them this time and I think (the parents) must be twice as happy," zookeeper Cherwon Kang said.</p>

<p>Bella Macey, a 10-year-old kid from Australia, is suffering from&nbsp;complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), often regarded as the&nbsp;“most painful condition” known to mankind. The rare and debilitating condition causes excruciating pain in her entire right leg when she moves or even when someone barely touches it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The family of the girl said Bella was fine before their first overseas trip to Fiji after the pandemic. However, during the vacation, she developed a blister which later became infected and caused her foot to become inflamed, according to Australian media reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It‘s all sharp, it’s burning, it’s tingly. It’s all sorts of different pain I never knew was possible," Bella was quoted as saying by A Current Affair.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I can’t have a shower, I can’t have a bath.&nbsp;I can’t put (on) any sheets or anything on...even with a tissue, you can’t touch it with anything, otherwise, I will scream.”</p>

<h2><strong>Family to fly to the US</strong></h2>

<p>Despite their best attempts, the family has been unable to find treatment for their kid in Australia. They are now planning to embark upon a painful trip to the US where Bella can receive treatment from the Spero Clinic, located in Fayetteville, Arkansas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The concerned family has set up a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-save-bella-from-a-life-of-unimaginable-pain">GoFundMe</a> page for their kid to seek donations for treatment and other hospital expenses.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>"A month ago everything changed, she was struck down with an excruciatingly painful illness called CRPS. Since her diagnosis, she has been battling excruciating pain that affects her daily activities and steals away her childhood. Bella's pain has meant she has lost mobility in her right foot and leg, right up to her groin. She is now bedridden or in a wheelchair if she needs to get around," reads the description.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But chicken bones could be among the most revealing findings, and tell the story in more ways than one.</p>

<p>To begin with, they are a human invention.</p>

<p>"The modern meat chicken is unrecognisable compared to its ancestors or wild counterparts," said Carys Bennett, a geologist and lead author of a 2017 study in Royal Society Open Science laying out the evidence for the animal as a "marker species" of the Anthropocene.</p>

<p>"Body size, the shape of the skeleton, bone chemistry and genetics are all distinct."</p>

<p>Their very existence, in other words, is evidence of humanity's capacity to hack nature and intervene in natural processes.</p>

<p>The modern broiler chicken's origins are in the jungles of Southeast Asia, where its forebear, the red junglefowl (Gallus gallus), was first domesticated some 8,000 years ago.</p>

<p>The species has long been prized for its meat and eggs, but its engineered breeding into the rotund, short-lived creature found in supermarkets the world over started only after World War II.</p>

<p>"It usually takes millions of years for evolution to occur, but here it has taken just decades to produce a new form of animal," Jan Zalasiewicz, an emeritus professor of palaeobiology at the University of Leicester, told AFP.</p>

<p>Last year, the official Anthropocene Working Group he chaired for more than a decade determined that the Holocene Epoch -- which began 11,700 years ago as the last ice age ended -- gave way to the Anthropocene in the mid-20th century.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, it will announce which spot on Earth best exemplifies that shift.</p>
