On Thursday, police had arrested two persons outside Karachi trying to smuggle 14 baby monkeys in crates meant to transport mangoes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, when they were presented in court on Friday by the Sindh Wildlife Department of Pakistan, one of the baby monkeys created chaos on the premises after breaking free from a troop.</p>

<p>Pakistan’s Geo TV reported that authorities were seen struggling to rescue the monkey on Friday, who was “too small and, therefore, too fast to be easily grabbed.” Dawn reported the monkey was recaptured almost after 20 hours of intense rescue operation by the officials.</p>

<h2><strong>Smugglers fined $350 each</strong></h2>

<p>Both smugglers were later fined 100,000 Pakistani rupees (US$ 350) by the Karachi court. Also, the court directed the wildlife department to hand over the monkeys to Karachi Zoo.</p>

<p>However, the decision was immediately criticised by wildlife department officials because Pakistani zoos are generally notorious for their poor facilities and activists accuse the zoo officials of totally disregarding animal welfare.</p>

"Until about eight, males and females are about the same size, and they don't have prominent sex organs. Males don't develop... their silver backs until 12 or later,” the authorities said.<br />

Generally, gorillas fail to show any signs of pregnancy because of their large abdomens and infant gorillas appear significantly smaller compared to human babies.</p>

<p>Thousands of sharks off Florida coast may have become addicted to cocaine, a new study has recently revealed.</p>

<p>According to the researchers, these marine animals have been feasting on large amounts of narcotics that are getting dumped into the ocean.</p>

<p>For decades, the drug peddlers have been using the Florida coast to smuggle huge bundles of cocaine from South to Central America.</p>

<p>These bales of narcotics—which are often dumped at sea as it helps smugglers avoid law enforcement—find their way to the shore aided by tides and currents.</p>

<p>In June, the US Coast Guard seized over 14,100 pounds (6,400kg) of cocaine in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean,&nbsp;with an estimated value of $186 million.</p>

<h2><strong>Discovery's&nbsp;documentary on cocaine sharks</strong></h2>

<p>As so much cocaine was entering the waters, US marine biologist Tom Hird, who is also called ‘The Blowfish’, wanted to see whether sharks off the coast of Florida were ingesting the narcotics.</p>

<p>To find out, he made a documentary for Discovery's Shark Week called Cocaine Sharks. University of Florida environmental scientist&nbsp;Tracy Fanara&nbsp;also took part in the study, reported LiveScience.</p>

<p>For their experiment, they went to the Florida Keys archipelago to investigate reports that sharks are “high” on drugs.</p>

<p>During a dive, they found a hammerhead shark and a sandbar shark behaving awkwardly.</p>

<h2><strong>The experiment&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>To test the reports, they dropped packages that looked like bales of cocaine.&nbsp;They observed that sharks were swimming straight to the packages and biting into them.</p>

<p>A jury in South Florida, US on Friday (July 21) awarded $800,000 in damages to the family of a little girl after she suffered second-degree burns when a flaming-hot McDonald's Chicken McNugget fell on her thigh in 2019. Her family had sought $15 million in damages.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The decision to award the money comes a little more than two months after the jury found McDonald's and its franchise holder, Upchurch, liable for the ordeal suffered by the girl.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The family was awarded&nbsp;$400,000 for the suffering and mental anguish suffered in the past four years as well as&nbsp;$400,000 for the future, according to BBC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I'm actually just happy that they listened to Olivia's voice and the jury was able to decide a fair judgment," said the girl's mother&nbsp;Philana Holmes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I'm happy with that. I honestly had no expectations, so this is more than fair for me."</p>

<h2><strong>The 2019 incident</strong></h2>

<p>The incident took place in August 2019 when Holmes took her son and daughter to a Tamarac McDonald’s and bought the Happy Meals. However, she was given no warning that the food might be scalding. After receiving the food from the drive-thru window, she passed it along to her daughter and son in the back seat and drove away.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Her daughter, Olivia, an autistic child who was four years old at the time, did not testify during the trial. However, according to Holmes' version, she did not realise at first why her daughter was screaming in the back.</p>

<p>Upon pulling up into a nearby parking lot to help the child, she noticed the burn and took photos on her iPhone, which included audio clips of the child’s screams.</p>

<p>Both the photo and the audio were presented during the trial. The attorneys representing the fast-food giant, however, argued that food had to be hot to avoid salmonella poisoning. They added that nuggets were not meant to be pressed between a seat belt and human flesh for more than two minutes.</p>

<p>Though both sides agreed that the nugget was the cause of the burns, the family's lawyers argued that the temperature was above 93 Celsius while McDonald's said it was no more than 71 Celsius.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The case is reminiscent of the 1992 Stella Liebeck case when she received $2.7 million in punitive damages after a McDonald's hot coffee spilled into her lap - burning her legs, groin and buttocks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A two-year-old boy died in the US state of Nevada on Thursday (July 19) after contracting a deadly&nbsp;brain-eating amoeba while swimming. The little kid, identified as&nbsp;Woodrow Bundy passed away from the infections, which his family believes entered his body while playing in the water in Ash Springs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bundy's mother,&nbsp;Briana, took to Facebook to share the tragic news of her son's passing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Woodrow Turner Bundy returned victoriously to our father in heaven at 2:56 am. He fought 7 days. The longest any person has survived on record is 3," wrote Briana.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I knew I had the strongest son in the world. He is my hero and I will forever be grateful to God for giving me the goodest baby boy on earth, and I am grateful to know I will have that boy in heaven someday," she added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the infection almost turns fatal for the majority of patients.&nbsp;People who get infected suffer from a disease called primary amebic meningoencephalitis. Symptoms include&nbsp;headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, disorientation, a stiff neck, a loss of balance, seizures and/or hallucinations.</p>

<p>The family of the kid had written to the CDC to provide medication to the boy. However, the health body refused to administer medication, saying he was "past the point of any survivor".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"A medical questionnaire must be offered, however, it is a voluntary document and can be declined. <p>Gawdat stated that with the help of technological advances, the human brain will get linked to computer-backed systems and make it believe it is interacting with a peer.</p>

<p>“If we think a few years further and think of Neuralink and other ways of connecting directly to your nervous system, and why would you need another being in the first place?” said Gawdat.</p>

<p>“You know, that’s actually quite messy,” he stated while speaking about real-life human relationships. Gawdat said that even the emotional and mental stimuli that accompany intimacy can be recreated artificially.</p>

<p>Hoover police chief Nicholas Derzis doubted the possibility of an abduction, telling reporters that “we have no reason to believe that there is a threat to public safety related to this particular case”.</p>

During the call, it sounded like Russell approached the child and moments later, screamed, her mother Talitha Russell told AL.com. Then, the family member lost contact with Russell.</p>

<p>When police arrived, officers discovered Russell's car. Some of her belongings, including her wig and cell phone, were on the roadway. But neither Russell nor the child was anywhere to be found. The department has received no other calls of a missing small child as of Sunday.</p>

Alabama: New details revealed in the mysterious disappearance & reappearance of Carlee Russell

<p>Hundreds of golden retrievers assembled at the Scottish Highlands from July 10-14 to celebrate the 155th anniversary of the breed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland organised a four-day anniversary event at the ruins of Guisachan House, the dog breed's place of birth. The event had&nbsp;talks, training workshops, a picnic and a night-time procession, reported BBC News.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nearly 500 golden retrievers and their owners attended the gathering. The golden retrievers were from 12 countries, including Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, the Czech Republic, Italy, Croatia, Estonia, and Japan. The games and activities included haggis hurling, tug of war, and scurry. As per The Telegraph, the number of golden retrievers in attendance was 466.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The gathering at Guisachan House happens every five years. The first official gathering occurred in 2006, and the second was in 2013.</p>

<p>The established breeders are mindful of protecting the dogs' qualities and temperament. However, she said irresponsible breeding during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns has put this at risk. She said, "We want to hold on to the confidence, the biddability, the companionship and loyalty, all the things the golden retriever always has."</p>

<p>The Indian Space Research Organisation's scientists performed the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft's first orbit-raising manoeuvre on Saturday, said the space agency. In a social media post, ISRO informed that the spacecraft's health was "normal".<br />

<p>Japan has just been toppled by Singapore to become the nation with the world’s most powerful passport. In the latest passport power index released by Henley &amp; Partners, Singapore has registered an impressive visa-free score of 192, which simply means the country’s citizens can travel to 192 destinations in the world without the need to get a visa beforehand.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Henley &amp; Partners passport index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and it ranks 199 passports worldwide.</p>

<h2><strong>Index dominated by Europeans</strong></h2>

<p>The second position on the index is collectively shared by Germany, Italy and Spain with a visa-free score of 190. Japan, which dominated the index for four straight years, has been knocked down to the third position this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now, its citizens, along with those from Austria, Finland, France, Luxemburg, South Korea and Sweden, have visa-free access to 189 countries. This shows that European powers are now dominating the passport index, outshining their Asian peers like Japan and South Korea.</p>

<h2><strong>US &amp; UK on a downward trajectory</strong></h2>

<p>Both the United States and the United Kingdom have experienced a decline in their global ranking of visa-free travel since their prime days when they jointly held the top spot in 2014.</p>

As per media reports, Bipin ate 150 momos to win a bet worth Rs 1,000. The incident happened in the Siwan district of Bihar, where the deceased&nbsp;agreed to the bet with friends on eating the most momos.</p>

<p>Bipin used to work at a mobile repair shop and&nbsp;went to the shop as usual and met his friends later in the day. The group later decided to challenge on eating&nbsp;the maximum number of momos. Bipin also joined the challenge.&nbsp;</p>
