China is battling an extreme heatwave which has not only affected people but also damaged their cars.
A video of ballooning cars in China was shared on the social media platform X, and it went viral as netizens wondered why cars are appearing "pregnant".
Because of the increasing temperatures, the protective films on the car blew up and swelled, which made them appear pregnant.
'Made-in-Chinacarsget pregnant' post goes viral, garners attention
“No joke! Made-in-Chinacarsget pregnant when it’s too hot,” wrote Jennifer Zeng, a US-based reporter in China. She often posts anti-CCP material on X and YouTube. The post went viral on X and garnered more than 357.2K views.
In the video, various cars are parked in the open and have blown-up protective films. In the video, multiple carmodels are present which include an Audi model as well.

Reacting to the video, some users said that the blow-up parts are mostlyaftermarket protective wraps and have nothing to do with China-made cars.

“The joke is on you that you don’t even realise these are aftermarket wraps,” wrote Wan Chun Hung, reacting to the post.
"Cheap adhesive on the back off-gassing? Imagine what toxic crap comes off the Chinese stuff you buy when it sees sunlight," wrote another user.
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to pop it at; you just don't know if it has chemical gases inside it or not," a user Nick said.
"Bad paint protection film wrapping. Bubbles in the wrap expand when it gets too hot," commented another user.
"But any idea how to deflate these swollen car wraps in case of emergency?" quizzed a third user.
As per Wrap Guys, extended exposure to direct sunlight and increased temperatures can impact the aesthetics and durability of a car wrap.

High temperatures can lead to vinyl wraps bubbling or stretching out and also fade over time.
Although the wraps have a UV-protecting layer, which helps in warding these issues, it is important that the wrap is regularly maintained for their long life.
