About UPSC CSE
India's Civil Service Exam (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the exam, considered one of the toughest to crack in the country.
UPSC conducts the exam in two phases: prelims and mains. While prelims contain objective-type questions, mains have descriptive and essay-type answers. Candidates who qualify these two phases sit for an interview. After qualification, they can join services like Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, Indian Foreign Services, Indian Revenue Services and more.
The UPSC CSE exam dates back to 1854. The British East India Company conducted it for the first time. The age limit to sit for the exam is between 21 and 32 years. However, there's some age relaxation as per category. The nationality of the candidate appearing for the UPSC CSSE exam must be Indian, and they must have a graduation degree from any recognised university.
