President Donald Trump has hinted that another US city is soon going to face a National Guard deployment amid his crackdown against crime and immigration. He made the remarks during his unplanned visit to a restaurant in Washington as he argued that his federal takeover policy was working. He was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as he dined at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak &amp; Stone Crab on Tuesday (Sep 9).Speaking to the reporters outside the restaurant, Trump said that his administration’s crackdown against crime in DC was instrumental in his decision to dine out. He further suggested that he would soon announce a similar operation in another city.“We’ll be announcing another city that we’re going to very shortly — we’re working it out,” Trump said. “The governor of a certain state would love us to be there, and the mayor of a certain city in that same state would love us to be there. US President Donald Trump is asking the European Union to impose tariffs of up to 100 per cent on imports from India and China, in a joint push to raise the economic cost for Russia over its war in Ukraine, according to the Financial Times. Laura Loomer’s claim comes amid renewed calls for stricter rules on outsourcing and remote work by conservative commentators in the US. Jack Poso, a right-wing commentator, has demanded that the Trump administration impose tariffs on countries of foreign remote workers.“Countries must pay for the privilege of providing services remotely to the US, the same way as goods. Apply across industries, levelled as necessary per country,” Poso said.Reportedly, his suggestion received a “thumbs up” from Trump’s trade advisor, Peter Navarro, a key figure behind the administration’s trade policies.&nbsp;However, it is not clear whether the Trump administration will impose strict restrictions on outsourcing to major IT firms of India like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro, or whether they would consider tariffs on foreign services.This comes amid the trade tensions between India and the US since Trump imposed 50 per cent tariffs on India, citing Russian oil imports. While the US president and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have exchanged cordial words and suggested cooperation, the issues between the two nations remain unresolved.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday (Sep 6) issued a chilling warning to Chicago ahead of the planned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids as part of the administration’s crackdown against illegal immigrants. Trump also suggested that the biggest city in Illinois is about to find out why it is called ‘Department of War’, referring to the latest executive order signed by him that rebranded the Department of Defence.“I love the smell of deportations in the morning,” the US president wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform, while sharing an edited picture of himself wearing a US Army shirt and black hat with helicopters flying in the background over the city in a chaotic scene.“Chicago about to find out why it's called the Department of WAR,” he wrote. The picture also featured a text reading “Chipocalypse Now”.

This comes as ICE is preparing to carry out a raid in the city after Trump said the next federal military takeover will take place in Chicago. The operation, which will target undocumented migrants in the city, is expected to last 45 days. Earlier this week, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said that ICE could ramp up its operations in Chicago over the weekend, starting Friday. Local authorities have said that there could be up to 300 ICE agents in the city.Pritzker has voiced concern that the crackdown could coincide with the Mexican Independence Day Parade in Chicago, which could escalate matters in the city. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and other local officials have also expressed opposition to federal intervention, stressing the city’s sanctuary policies and legal rights to resist federal overreach.Meanwhile, the US Department of Justice said on Saturday that it has made 1,989 arrests in Washington as the authorities ramped up the crackdown against illegal immigrants and crime. It also said that a legal action has been taken against Boston Mayor Michelle Wu over the sanctuary city policy. It also announced the expansion of Joint Task Force Alpha to combat human smuggling.

US President Donald Trump on Friday (Sep 5) lashed out at the “confused and badly failing” Democratic Party over the Jeffrey Epstein case, saying that they don’t care about the victims. Rather, Trump claims, the Democrats befriended Epstein, socialised with them, travelled to his island and took his money. This comes days after the US House Oversight Committee on Tuesday (Sep 2) dropped the first batch of Jeffrey Epstein records online, hailing “full transparency”. However, the more than 33,000 pages that were released were heavily redacted documents.Taking aim at the Democrats in a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, are seeming to show such love and heartfelt concern for his victims. Does anybody really believe that? Where were they during his very public trials, and for all of those years before his death? The answer is, ‘nowhere to be found.’”“The now dying (after the DOJ gave thousands of pages of documents in full compliance with a very comprehensive and exacting Subpoena from Congress!) He added that the release was “going as quick as we can get them uploaded” and that they want the files to be public “as soon as possible.” However, many pointed out that what good is transparency if most of the content of the files is unreliable, given that some almost entire pages were blacked out.

However, the more than 33,000 pages that were released were heavily redacted documents. Taking aim at the Democrats in a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, are seeming to show such love and heartfelt concern for his victims. Does anybody really believe that? Where were they during his very public trials, and for all of those years before his death? The answer is, ‘nowhere to be found.’” “The now dying (after the DOJ gave thousands of pages of documents in full compliance with a very comprehensive and exacting Subpoena from Congress!) Epstein case was only brought back to life by the Radical Left Democrats because they are doing so poorly, with the lowest poll numbers in the history of the Party (16%), while the Republicans are doing so well, among the highest approval numbers the Party has ever had!” he added. ‘Merely another Democrat hoax’ Trump further alleged that Democrats don’t care about the victims, adding that they never did before as well, and went on to call it “merely another Democrat hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia, and all of the others.” Trump claimed that this was an attempt to deflect and distract “from the great success of a Republican President” and the “record setting” failure of the previous administration of former president Joe Biden and his party. US President Donald Trump has claimed that Washington has “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China” after the leaders of the three countries appeared together at a major summit in Tianjin. For New Delhi, however, discounted Russian crude has helped cushion energy costs and ease inflation at home. India has repeatedly defended its imports as necessary for national interest, while insisting it has not broken international law.

US President Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order on Friday to rename the Department of Defence as the Department of War. The White House says the move is part of a wider push to project a stronger and more aggressive image of America’s military. A senior official confirmed the plan, though the change would normally need an act of Congress. According to people familiar with the matter, the administration is exploring legal ways to bypass a vote. US President Donald Trump is visibly growing frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his frustration came out in the open on Wednesday (September 03) when he was questioned about his inaction against Russia despite constantly issuing deadlines. Responding to a Polish reporter's question during an Oval Office meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki, Trump said that he had imposed secondary sanctions on India for buying Russian oil and warned of further steps, indicating that “phase two” and “phase three” were still on the table.Also read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/what-is-the-dongfeng-5c-china-s-top-nuclear-missile-that-can-target-any-corner-of-the-world-including-the-us-india-and-europe-1756896352112">What is the Dongfeng-5C? <h2>'No message to President Putin'</h2>When asked if he had any message for Putin, who was in China with Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the Victory Day parade in Beijing, Trump said, “I have no message to President Putin. He knows where I stand, and he’ll make a decision one way or the other. Whatever his decision is, we’ll either be happy about it or unhappy. And if we’re unhappy about it, you’ll see things happen.”<h2>Trump, Zelensky to hold talks today</h2>Trump added that he will speak to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday (September 04), adding, “I’ll know pretty much what we’re going to be doing."<h2>What has happened to Trump's efforts to end Ukraine war?</h2>It has been over two weeks since Trump hosted Putin for historic talks in Anchorage, Alaska and Zelensky, alongside other European leaders, met with the US President in Washington, but the progress has remained stalled. After meeting with Putin, Trump said that he will try to get both Ukrainian and Russian leaders for a trilateral meeting, but the Russian side has been flip-flopping on the prospect of meeting. Notably, on Wednesday, Putin claimed that he was willing to meet with Zelensky in Moscow, a proposal Kyiv rejected right away.

Frustrated with Putin, Trump defended his stance, citing secondary sanctions on India over Russian oil, and warned of further actions, saying “phase two” and “phase three” remain possible responses.

US President Donald Trump brushed off concerns over electronic warfare on Tuesday (September 02), saying he would be “happy” if his own ability to use a phone was taken away. US President Donald Trump has once again criticised India’s tariff regime, calling it among the highest in the world and singling out Harley Davidson as an example of what he described as unfair trade. Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump insisted Washington had been too lenient for years. “No, we get along with India very well,” he said when asked if he would roll back some of the tariffs on Indian goods. “But they were doing business with us because we weren't charging them, foolishly, we weren't charging them. They'd send it in, pour it into our country. Therefore, it wouldn't be made here, which is a negative, but we would not send in anything because they were charging us 100% tariffs,” he added.Also read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/donald-trump-china-victory-day-military-parade-live-updates-xi-jinping-putin-kim-jong-un-latest-1756866102561">‘Say hi to Putin and Kim as you plot against US’: Trump’s sarcastic jab at Xi on China’s Victory Day - Is the US president paranoid or just bitter?</a><h2>Harley Davidson in focus</h2>Trump pointed to Harley Davidson motorcycles, which he claimed faced a 200% duty in India. “Harley Davidson couldn’t sell into India. There was a 200% tariff on a motorcycle. So what happens? Harley Davidson went to India and built a motorcycle plant and now they don’t have to pay tariffs,” he said.The comments came as Trump vowed to challenge a federal court ruling that struck down much of his tariff policy. On August 30, a US appeals court ruled 7–4 that the president did not have authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs.“The statute bestows significant authority on the President … but none of these actions explicitly include the power to impose tariffs, duties, or the like, or the power to tax,” the court said. Calling the decision a “total disaster for the Country,” Trump said he would seek an “expedited ruling” from the Supreme Court. “We’re going to be going to the Supreme Court, we think tomorrow,” he told reporters.The ruling affects Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, though duties on steel and aluminium remain. For India, Washington has already imposed 25% tariffs on exports and an additional 25% levy on oil linked to Russia, raising duties to 50% in total.Despite the tensions, both sides are still working on a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). Commerce minister Piyush Goyal told investors in Mumbai that the deal could be concluded by November, though geopolitical tensions have slowed talks.“We have had a little bit of geopolitical issues overtaking trade issues in our negotiations with the United States of America,” Goyal said. He added that India had drawn “red lines” by keeping its agriculture and dairy markets closed and maintaining “strategic autonomy” in trade with Russia.

Calling the decision a “total disaster for the Country,” Trump said he would seek an “expedited ruling” from the Supreme Court. “We’re going to be going to the Supreme Court, we think tomorrow,” he told reporters. The ruling affects Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, though duties on steel and aluminium remain. For India, Washington has already imposed 25% tariffs on exports and an additional 25% levy on oil linked to Russia, raising duties to 50% in total. Despite the tensions, both sides are still working on a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). Commerce minister Piyush Goyal told investors in Mumbai that the deal could be concluded by November, though geopolitical tensions have slowed talks. “We have had a little bit of geopolitical issues overtaking trade issues in our negotiations with the United States of America,” Goyal said. He added that India had drawn “red lines” by keeping its agriculture and dairy markets closed and maintaining “strategic autonomy” in trade with Russia.

Donald Trump criticised India’s high tariffs, calling them unfair and highlighting a 200% duty on Harley-Davidson. He claimed the US was too lenient, allowing one-sided trade to continue for years.

<h2>Netizens react</h2>The comments section was flooded with people trying to come up with a possible theory. A user suggested that it could be renovation work being carried out inside the building and debris being thrown from the windows. “Contractors often throw construction debris out the window rather than carry it downstairs. It may be that a room is being remodeled and furnishings such as carpet, drapery, etc. are being tossed out to be carried to a dumpster.” Another wrote, “Maybe Trump learned that President Lincoln was actually AGAINST slavery so decided to destroy the Lincoln bedroom?” One said, “Trump is throwing classified documents to a russian spy grounds keeper.”A user joked, “Melania throwing away Trump’s diapers?” While another pointe out, “that appears to be the Presidential bedroom, assuming that's a front view (else, it’s the Queen’s bedroom).&nbsp; That said, those bedroom windows are sealed shut.”“They are airing it out. The smell of death can be overwhelming,” a person wrote. Another questioned, “Why is the flag at half mast...” The incident comes shortly amid the health concerns surrounding US President Donald Trump. Recently, “Trump is dead” was trending on social media after the US president was not seen publicly for days, sparking rumours of his death.One user claimed the video was fake, saying that the windows in the White House are fixed and sealed. “Well, this is a fake video. The third floor’s rooms, such as the Solarium (originally a sun parlor atop the portico with floor-to-ceiling fixed windows for light and views), use non-operable windows by design to maintain the building’s neoclassical symmetry, provide security, and integrate with the central HVAC system installed during the 1948–1952 Truman renovation. These windows are fixed and sealed, often with bulletproof glass for protection, but this is a deliberate architectural and security feature. In other words, they do not open!”&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India’s economy was beating expectations, even as the world faced challenges fuelled by what he called “economic selfishness”, a comment seen as a swipe at Donald Trump’s steep tariffs on Indian goods. Speaking at the Semicon India 2025 conference in Delhi, Modi pointed to strong GDP numbers in the first quarter of this year. “Once again, India has performed better than every expectation, every assessment,” he said. “At a time when there are concerns in the economy of the world, there are challenges created by economic selfishness; in that environment, India has achieved a growth of 7.8 per cent,” he added.Also read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-family-made-6-billion-from-crypto-coin-launch-thanks-to-a-company-run-by-steve-witkoff-s-son-here-s-how-1756790078013">Trump family made $6 BILLION from crypto-coin launch thanks to a company run by Steve Witkoff's son - Here's how</a><h2>India records fastest growth in five quarters</h2>Government data released last Friday showed India’s economy grew by 7.8 per cent year-on-year in April-June, up from 7.4 per cent in the previous quarter. US President Donald Trump on Monday (Sep 1) called on pharmaceutical companies to “justify the success” of COVID-19 drugs, adding that there is a disagreement on whether the drugs saved lives. This comes amid the controversy surrounding the removal of CDC Director Susan Monarez after she reportedly opposed the proposed changes in vaccine policy brought by Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. Monarez argued that the revisions were inconsistent with established scientific evidence and could undermine public health. Her dismissal also sparked resignations from other CDC officials, who supported her.The reforms pushed by Kennedy would limit access to the COVID-19 vaccine–a move criticised by several health officials. In the lengthy post on his Truth Social platform, Trump questioned Pfizer and other companies why they have not presented the successful results of the COVID-19 drugs to the public.He added, “It is very important that the Drug Companies justify the success of their various Covid Drugs. Many people think they are a miracle that saved Millions of lives. Others disagree! With CDC being ripped apart over this question, I want the answer, and I want it NOW. I have been shown information from Pfizer, and others, that is extraordinary, but they never seem to show those results to the public. Why not??? They go off to the next ‘hunt’ and let everyone rip themselves apart, including Bobby Kennedy Jr. and CDC, trying to figure out the success or failure of the Drug Companies Covid work.”The US president further demanded they “clear up this mess” by showing the “great numbers and results” to the public and the CDC.“They show me GREAT numbers and results, but they don’t seem to be showing them to many others. A ‘plan’ for a post-war US takeover of Gaza has been circulating within President Donald Trump’s administration that involves the US administering the territory for at least a decade. The plan includes relocating the population of Gaza and rebuilding the war-torn region as a tourist resort and manufacturing hub. This comes as Israel moves to escalate its military operations as part of its Gaza City takeover plan.According to the 38-page prospectus, Gaza’s two million population would temporarily vacate the region either through “voluntary” departures to another country or into restricted areas within the territory during the reconstruction phase, the Washington Post reported.Reports earlier indicated that there is a proposal to build large-scale camps called “Humanitarian Transit Areas” to house Gaza’s population. The plan carried the name of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, the US-backed aid group that has often been caught in controversies.The recent report added that people who own land in Gaza would be offered a “digital token” in exchange for rights to redevelop their property. Palestinians who decide to leave Gaza would be provided with $5,000 in cash, subsidies to cover four years of rent, and a year of food, the Post added.The plan has been termed as “Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust, or GREAT Trust,” and was developed by GHF, it said.The Global Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) coordinates with the Israeli military and relies on private US security and logistics firms to distribute aid into Gaza. While it is the preferred aid channel by the Israeli government and the Trump administration, the UN has criticised it, saying that thousands have been killed while trying to receive aid since the organisation started its operations in Gaza.The White House has so far not issued any official statement regarding the report. However, Trump had earlier mentioned taking over Gaza. In February, Trump said that the US should “take over” the war-torn enclave and rebuild it as “the Riviera of the Middle East” after resettling the Palestinian population elsewhere.<h2>Hamas rejects US takeover of Gaza</h2>Following the reports on a US plan to take over post-war Gaza, Hamas has rejected the claims. Hamas political bureau member Bassem Naim slammed the proposal, saying, “Gaza is not for sale”. He further added, “Gaza is... part of the greater Palestinian homeland.”

This comes as Israel moves to escalate its military operations as part of its Gaza City takeover plan. According to the 38-page prospectus, Gaza’s two million population would temporarily vacate the region either through “voluntary” departures to another country or into restricted areas within the territory during the reconstruction phase, the Washington Post reported. Reports earlier indicated that there is a proposal to build large-scale camps called “Humanitarian Transit Areas” to house Gaza’s population. The plan carried the name of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, the US-backed aid group that has often been caught in controversies. The recent report added that people who own land in Gaza would be offered a “digital token” in exchange for rights to redevelop their property. Palestinians who decide to leave Gaza would be provided with $5,000 in cash, subsidies to cover four years of rent, and a year of food, the Post added. The plan has been termed as “Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust, or GREAT Trust,” and was developed by GHF, it said. The Global Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) coordinates with the Israeli military and relies on private US security and logistics firms to distribute aid into Gaza. While it is the preferred aid channel by the Israeli government and the Trump administration, the UN has criticised it, saying that thousands have been killed while trying to receive aid since the organisation started its operations in Gaza. The White House has so far not issued any official statement regarding the report. However, Trump had earlier mentioned taking over Gaza. In February, Trump said that the US should “take over” the war-torn enclave and rebuild it as “the Riviera of the Middle East” after resettling the Palestinian population elsewhere. Hamas rejects US takeover of Gaza Following the reports on a US plan to take over post-war Gaza, Hamas has rejected the claims. Hamas political bureau member Bassem Naim slammed the proposal, saying, “Gaza is not for sale”. He further added, “Gaza is... part of the greater Palestinian homeland.”

‘Party of war’: Kremlin says Europe, not Russia, is blocking Trump’s Ukraine peace plan

Russia’s military chief has said the country will continue its full-scale war in Ukraine, despite US President Donald Trump’s efforts to secure peace. The Palestinian Presidency said it “deeply regrets” Washington’s decision, calling it a “clear contradiction to international law and the UN Headquarters Agreement.” It urged the US to reconsider. Palestinian officials argued Abbas had already condemned the October 7 attack in a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, rejecting claims that the leadership failed to denounce it. What is Washington’s reasoning? The State Department said the step was based on the Palestinian Authority’s failure to consistently condemn terror, alleged incitement in schools, and its lobbying for international recognition. It also pointed to Palestinian legal efforts against Israel, including attempts to prosecute Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the International Criminal Court. In its statement, the US noted, “The PA Mission to the UN will receive waivers per the UN Headquarters Agreement. The US remains open to re-engagement… should the PA/PLO meet their obligations and take concrete steps to return to a constructive path of compromise and peaceful coexistence with the State of Israel.” Historical flashback This is not the first time Washington has moved against Palestinian participation at the UN. In the 1980s, the US denied PLO leader Yasser Arafat a visa, forcing the assembly to relocate to Geneva. What happens next? Palestinian officials say they have not yet received official notice of cancelled visas and are discussing the situation with the UN Secretary-General’s office.

The US will deny visas to senior Palestinian officials for the UN assembly, escalating tensions over Palestinian statehood recognition and raising questions about violating host country obligations under international law.

US President Donald Trump has set off a political storm by cancelling nearly $5 billion in foreign aid, using a controversial budget tactic known as a “pocket rescission.” The White House budget office confirmed the move on Friday, saying $4.9 billion had been blocked. US President Donald Trump’s unexpected summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Anchorage was billed as a breakthrough moment. When US President Donald Trump escalated his trade war with China earlier this year, Beijing quietly reached out to New Delhi. According to a Bloomberg report citing an Indian official, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a private letter to President Droupadi Murmu as part of that effort.Although addressed to President Murmu, the message was quickly passed on to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Xi expressed concerns about possible US-India agreements that could damage China’s interests.
